Howdy all,

As some may have noticed, we have a new participant.
Jeremy has wandered this way through Foxy and Tac.

Please be as helpful as you can.
I've tried to provide pointers and links to useful things :)

As for nation, He was seeking something fairly simple, but unique and interesting.
The Empty PCs do not fit that.  NPCs like Ethiopia and Rajasthan and Maya would be disruptive and not simple either.

I thought over the various positions and felt Laksmanavati would be a good fit.
A medium power, with a colony to worry about, and a fairly free backstory means it seems to fit the request.

Byzantine, Parthia and Japan would form the bigger neighbors, but there's plenty of similar powers in the neighborhood.

Plus, with the fleet Rocky built, there's a good foundation to work from, far less 'catchup'.

Once the starting fleet tonnage is determined, Jeremy can 'purchase' ships from the design thread
using that tonnage.

As previously mentioned I have been wanting to redo NPC tech, so I am giving that a try.

Over the next couple of days I will be trying to do the background startup. Unfortunately some busy evenings Weds and Thurs, but I should be able to provide the baseline information this weekend.

As always, let me know questions/comments/concerns.

Excellent to have Jeremy aboard.

I see I did not attach the .sship files to my posts in the ship thread, so if you want any, just let me know and I'll post them.  Might save some time.

Kaiser Kirk

If it's easy for you to find the SS's, a post in that thread with them attached might really help Jeremy look at how  they are constructed.

For my part,
I am think that the best course is to make a list of the various classes and tonnages in the thread, and allow picking from that for a base fleet.

I remember making a board when I planned to invade Laksmanavati in 1930-31

"Everyone is fighting for what they miss. "

I've got the original fleet totals in a spreadsheet, but I also walked through the counts in that thread.

I'll try to do a post later tonight or on the weekend.

Are you ok with me making minor alterations to the ships? Like tweak the armament and Misc weight slightly, basically like what I did with the ASW sloop

I was hoping to settle in gun sizes and year models too once you have the research done. Right now everything is Model Whatever Year the Ship Was Laid. I'd like to have a mix of older and newer guns given theat I'm a more minor power

Kaiser Kirk

Yes, you can customize 'starting' designs as you move forward.

The lay down year, light tonnage and "architecture" (cruiser, destroyer), will remain fixed,
as that is what 'purchasing' but the details will be up to you.

The original way of determining NPC's tech is outdated and rather limiting.
So I have mostly finished my little project of research 1910-1935 techs to see what an NPC could have reasonably researched. A little behind, but not very.

Guns - as I've gone, I've set aside research funds to research guns and mounts.
I simply have called them 'Large/Medium, and Small/Little/AAMG/AAMG'. What exact sizes you want
will be up to you.

Anyhow, running a bit behind where I thought I'd be, but should have something useful soon :)

Okey Dokey,

So I've gotten the Laksmanavati economy & research up to 1936. More on that later.

Once we know what ships Laksmanavati has, I can populate the 'Active Navy' tab,
and turn over the sheet to Jeremy to start in 1936.

I used Jefgte's sheet as the base, and added to that.

The way the sheet is arranged is 4 year blocks
In each box, type over the blue 0 with the number of hulls desired of that class.
This includes both the warships and auxiliaries in the Design thread.
The auxiliary 1/4 cost has been applied to the spreadsheet.

For some ship types - Carriers, MTBs, Submarines and 'Generic Tonnage', they are on green fields and you are buying that # times that tonnage.

So a count of "2" in Submarines buys 2000 tons of subs, which the player can choose to be 2x250,3x500,1x1000.

If you buy 20 of "Auxiliary Tonnage" you are buying 20 x 1,000 tons or 20,000 tons of Auxiliaries, and the player (Jeremy) can then design that vessel. Of course since Auxiliaries cost 1/4, it only takes 5,000 of your allotment. If that had been Subs or MTBs, they are warships and you pay full price.

The counters will tell you the tonnage remaining in that year block.

A total counter at the bottom tracks the Navy as a whole.

I figure Jeremy can take the sheet,
Choose what he wants.
The customize later option still applies as per his question.
The generic auxiliary and carrier tonnage can be designed later.

Then he can reply here and attach the sheet and I'll go finish the Turn sheet and finish set up.

Other folks are welcome to look at what I've done and supply ideas on how to better do it :)

I'll note it seems the sheet has the 1916 Battleship as a 'cruiser', which doesn't really matter.
Since Jefgte has armaments and armor information, it's rather obvious what it is.

After some relearning,

I have moved the Laksmanavati file to Player nations and
created Subfolders for the primary ship architectures.

I can create additional subfolders as needed.

Question :
I moved the Laksmanavati subboard to Player Nations and added the ship architecture subfolders.
Jeremy can get there via link, but can't "see" it otherwise.

Can the rest of you see/navigate to it there?

I'm guessing there's a permission I need to set and I want to know if it's the player or the folders.

Me too.

Kaiser made a false manip.

"Everyone is fighting for what they miss. "

Very odd.
I haven't set up new boards since before the Forum update, so they may have changed something.

Looking at the Forum permissions I'm not seeing anything immediately obvious as to why that is.

I may have to *shudder* read the instructions...which I really don't have time/mental bandwidth for just now.
