The critique of the mount vs. turret still holds.
If the rotating weight of the USN 8", power assisted,  was too high for smooth operations, and was detrimental in shorter range fights,
then a heavily armored 234mm mount at 262tons without power assist can be expected to have the same- I would at the least assign weight to power assist. We have been using 10% of the gun+mount+armor weight.
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

In 1932, Byzantium had 457/40 in T2 and T3. (Furious gun)
Developed to cope with the very large calibers in service in certain navies.
2 projects study from BB8 (34000t - 4T3x381 - 21kts) and
BC8 (37000t - 3T3x381 - 29kts)
2 possibilities to choose from with the same weaponry:
4T2x457 + 8T2x133 - B350
BB10 - 43435t - 24kts => enough to work with all 21kts/24kts BBs
BC9 - 46975t - 27kts => weak to work with actual 4 x BC - 29kts

I think Byzantine should look for about 10 knots max... and no more than 320mm guns.
but only like 1 per hull....
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

Byzantine must built 160 TGB - 2x102 + 4x40 + 3TTx533 - 25kts but no 2 x 40 000t battleships.

Be curious to see how many he could build in those parameters.

Agreed, 24knts is just not competitive as it will have the range held against anything modern. 3000t to buy at least exist in the same speed band as other modern ships is very worth it.

Who cheer when solider lads march by
Sneak home and pray that you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

My normal practice is to keep my comments on Byzantine ships to technical critiques, not strategic evaluations :)
