The Rock Doctor

Similar kind of refit for the Quackenbruck class sloops, which mostly spend their time protecting Union auxiliaries.

New armament, new fire control but not enough room for a Huelsmeyer device.  In this case, the ships also get a sonar dome added.

The Rock Doctor

New AC for 1935 follows on from the 1929 class.  Primary roles are in fleet scouting and trade defence.  It'd likely make a good carrier escort but the Union isn't thinking along those lines yet.

Main changes are a DP secondary and increased range.  Seakeeping at flank speed is an important consideration given that the ship will be operating in the Atlantic.

Roughly equivalent to my Xiyon but with 6x250 rather than 8x215.

Not superimposing "B" is slightly odd if intentional, closes out the forward arc at closer ranges. At 32 knots I'd expect this vessel to want to be able forward while charging to a preferred range. If the ship is broadside only with the speed to keep that range, makes more sense, the 150rpg suggests that.

While I have a TDS, it doesn't change the #torps much, though it should protect against crits and mines/aerial torps fairly well.

That non-superfiring B turret is a mistake rather than a design choice.

I shall have somebody punished accordingly.

Sketch of the eight-gunner.  Placement of the 50mm would be as shown so the SS would need slight adjustment.

The six-gunner would be similar except for, you know, fewer guns aft.

Kaiser Kirk

As usually, I am appreciative and mildly envious of those who draw the vessels :)

My ship of course has a saucer section, engineering hull and twin warp nacelles...

If you have to tinker with the design for 'B' mount, could I suggest the middle 130mm mount be raised as well, lending DP fire dead ahead. From the deck break it doesn't help aft.
I presume another difference between between the designs is the # of secondary mounts.

I can elevate the second and third pairs of 130mm at the cost of about 40 t in miscellaneous weight, so that's doable.  Deck space might be tight for the third pair given the proximity to the floatplane hanger but eh.

I might play with the aft superstructure, see if I can plunk a 50mm ahead of "X" turret and then move  the director to a higher location stacked with that searchlight.  Something for tonight's post-dinner playing.

The Rock Doctor

Again, if you have a specific ship you'd like sketched, I could take a crack at it.  Tac seemed satisfied with my take on his cruiser.

Mildly?
It's 1/3 larger !
Interesting to contrast it to my Zemaka III.

I expect much of the 'cost' is the 4th turret and 32knots.

I had wondered the "cost" of 32knots, and expected to be high.
On the plus side, I really do not expect 34-35knot ships,
so unlike preceeding generations, this won't get passed up
by newer ships.

Since it was the 6 gun where the superimposed lack was noted, I thought that is what you were fixing.
The ship got much bigger.
