The Northern Kingdoms Royal Fleet

The past half decade has been uneventful for our glorious fleet. We have rested on the promise that our navy, which has so far been sufficient to protect ourselves, will remain sufficient. That the status quo will remain and we will have time to adapt to the changing circumstances. I am afraid to predict that soon, airships will soon make ships without adequate air cover obsolete. A single airship could launch scores of aircraft with torpedoes of ever increasing power that could sink a battleship with a single volley. I Admiral Robert av Konigswinger, if made Stromadmiral of the Fleet will put our beloved institution at the forefront of Aviation. I will push our nation to adapt and adopt revolutionary technologies to protect the trade of Norge, Scotland, and Vinland! We will seek to build a bright new future for ourselves and those who live with us. I solemny hope that the Konig and his ministers see me fit to bring the future naval affairs to the forefront of this fleet.

    The Konigs Obedient Servant,
          Admiral Robert av Konigswinger

OOC

Hi all!

My name is Robert, and I heard about this group from Desertfox. I enjoy naval history, creating imaginary force organizations, running kriegsspiels and the like and figured this would definitely be worth trying. My only concern is that my springsharp skills are hardly fit for a barge, though I have very very little practice till now. As you might have guessed, my interest is in Serving the Kingdom of the North. I am happy to give this everything I got, though my intelligence can be that of a lobotomized hamster at times. That and this is the first game which I am participating in that is run on a forum like this, so expect me to take a while to learn how to competently format. I hope I can be a satisfactory addition to the game

Best Regards,

    Robert

The Rock Doctor

Hi!  Welcome aboard.

No need to worry about SS skills, it's something that comes with practice.  We'll be happy to offer advice or, if you're wanting to, you can put out design competitions to achieve certain outcomes.

I'm playing one of the Northern Kingdom's cherished neighbours, the Vilnius Union - sort of a oversized Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth with an extra side of bureaucracy.

Storadmiral av Konigswinger

Thank you!

I look forward to getting that practice in, though I may start off with design competitions where I participate as well. I definitely look forward to bringing its technology back up to date and giving far too much effort into creating Flying Aircraft Carriers.

May your Amber Fileing Cabinets always be full, with licenses to have a permit to obtain a liscense, you wonderous Bureaucrats to our south!

Byzantine Empire welcome you.

If you want to play, I tell you that the Northern Kingdom has been free since 1916. We are in 1922. They already have a nice balanced fleet and many colonies.

1916 to 1922 progression could be a good starting point...

Truly an honor to be welcomed by the Eastern Roman Empire,

I do intend to bring the Northern Kingdom to a more secure future safeguarded by Aircraft and Torpedoes to supplement that balanced fleet.

I intend to fully modernized my air assets and establish an air fleet making some use of that development time.

Best Regards,
      Robert

Welcome !

Before I suddenly ran out of free time, I was trying to bring the Norse 'up to date' so a new player would have less 'catching up' to do.
I have 1916-1919.5 done with placeholders for the vessels were were doing the competitions for.

Those are available for use
or reference,
or being ignored :)
by anyone interested in playing the Norse

Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

Storadmiral av Konigswinger

Thank you!

I intend to play, though, as I am sure you understand it is a lot to take in. The other challenge is I don't know exactly where or how to start. I will say it will be nice to develop the tech; I will likely go with some of the building competition, although I will also try and compete with a design of my own. Due to my inexperience, I will probably not win my own competition, but it will start building practice.

Best Regards,
    Robert

Attached is the latest report 1916H2.
You will see the economic and military management of Norse.

I hate to ask such a simple question, but do I simply read the rules and guidelines, fill out the next turns adjustments, and then submit the sheet? If this is the case , I think it is where does one submit it?

Apologies for my Ignorance,

    Robert

We make 2 reports per year:
1917H1 (January to June)
1917H2 (July to December)

You have a starting budget of 70 IC (Industrial Capacity)
and 27 BP (Building Point) - 1BP = 1000t of steel.

You must add for 1917H1 the unused residual + the growths linked to the colonies (Economic Summary).
I advise you to continue first, with the Technologies (research) and naval construction in progress (Naval Summary).

=> Read the "Rules" topic.

=> After a couple of reports, you must be OK.

Questions are great.
The players will help answer and help you along - like Jefgte did.

New Ship designs you want to build get posted in the Ship Design thread
The rules for Ship design are...under Rules->Ship Design.

The turn sheet is set up with tabs for each main activity.
The sheets tend to have a "total invested",
which with the new turn you can copy & paste Special-> numbers in the 'prior' spot.

As  reference material, I will go ahead and attach the Norse 1916.5-> 1919.5 that I had in development,
they are on my other computer.
They can be used if you want, or you can just start at 1916.5. That is up to you :)

You can use them to see how things change/update from turn to turn.
You can also see that I had planned on building ships of various new types, but had left the exact design unspecified.

ok, off to fire up the other computer.

These are in draft form, but should be interesting to look over.
Since there are 4 attachments/ post, I will only post 1918HY1 to 1919HY2
I will do another post with 1916HY2-1917HY2

Hmm running into file size issues.

Plus you can see I was tracking the Norse Tech on a tab
and the new Naval Artillery on the research tab.

The new ship class names come from the Norse Ship Design thread.

the last two.

Again, drafts as useful reference points.
If you want, you can use them,
or you can redo them.

I will be starting work on the 1917.1 Report. I will post this here looking for any obvious mistakes or misunderstandings on my part. Expect a report by tomorrow evening but hopefully sooner.

One more question is something like U.S.S. Akron going to be something that can be a thing? Asking for a Friend of course............

   Best Reguards,
