I don't actually remember what the "truck" is.

Quote from: Jefgte on January 09, 2025, 01:06:58 AMShip equipment is governed by RULES so all SS designs have the same constraints.
EX:
"1915 ASW
1t per ASW Paravane : <=25knots..."

I based my "25 t:  1x Paravane (QD)" off the "25 t:  Sweeping gear (FD)" in the original design, although I couldn't actually find that in the rules (or any minesweeping gear). I just changed it to specifically mean a paravane (although I should have specified 2x instead of 1x).

Would explosive ASW paravanes be much different in weight than minesweeping paravanes? I don't want or need the ASW version. (I won't complain about saving 23 t of weight :))

There are many miscellaneous weights that are not directly specified and remarkably difficult to find out what they should 'in reality' be.

25tons is widely used as 'sufficient' for many of them.

Amounts less than that can still be termed different types of equipment, and you'll find some small variability.

Should there be a battle between players, or players and an NPC, or a 'skirmish', then whoever is admining that battle will make that final call.

For Paravanes, 5ts for 'normal' is generally used. 1-2t for 'Light' is allowable and means they have few if any spare paravanes on board, and cables of limited length- sufficient to keep their vessel safe, but of limited use for clearing for other ships.
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

So, 5 t would work for a coastal minesweeper then? Also fine for a fleet minesweeper or should that be more?

Kaiser Kirk

If you have 25t of 'minesweeping gear' that should cover everything needed for minesweeping at your tech level- including paravanes

If it's not a minesweeper, but you want paravanes, the 5t allow for a wider corridor and multiple paravanes for replacement.

Came up when Rome wanted to force passage through mined area. Though hurricanes had done most of the work.

Having cycled through the techs and research, the cycles came out for the 1925 Naval Artillery
to finish researching in 1933, allowing research on those guns and mountings to start.

That means at the end of 1935 a new series of guns became available to Laksmanavati.

So I expect a new series of classes using those guns will be laid down in 1936.

To make sure I was covering options I had to designate size ranges, but as Jeremy
indicated a desire to pick his own calibers, these really break down into guns
larger than 210mm and those smaller than 210mm.

Here's a preview of the Guns and Mountings that become available at the end of 1935

I will be posting my tweaks to the previously designed ships. Once these are finalized, they will be what I build my navy from.

Most of the changes are standardizing the MG to 12/90 and changing the AA guns from 60/45 to 40/39. There are a few other armament tweaks and some standardization of miscellaneous weight descriptions.
