How about 12 inch turret and barbette on deck, plus 8 inch turret without barbette one level up?

Walter

Yes, but how would you sim that 8 inch turret? As a coles/ericsson turret or mount+hoist?

Or one could sim it as turret+barbette, but only put 0,01mm of armour on the tube.

I think Korpen has hit upon the most effective way of getting this one done.
Fast, simple, and effective.

all good ideas, here is my issue, the 8" twin cant rotate seperately from the 12" twin so wouldnt it realy be like a Casemate?

You're better off turning it into a floating crane right away. ;D

I thought that building a new Alabama was fitting penance for the namesake of the ship who sank the world's most famous raider. Such beautiful irony. :D

No doubt it will be turned into a garbage barge in N4. :)

I seriously thought about turning one of the old CSA battleships into a crane ship, but Swampy made me such a good offer on the hulls that it just wasn't economical. I might have to do something like that with one of my ships here.

OH- to add to Korpen's statement: remember if you're doing this to a turret that's already raised, use the '2 mounts up' option in SS3! I know neither of the U.S.N. ships use this particular setup- but some in the N-verse might just be planning ships like that.
