I beleve you have some mail on the St. Louis class...
You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when solider lads march by
Sneak home and pray that you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

Well, any of the parties currently involved in a war would probably snap them up with great glee, especially if you're willing to take a promissary note rather than cold cash. For instance, I'd happily use either class for convoy escorts.

If you would kindly check the OOB and scroll down to where it lists "Awaiting disposal" you'll have the answer to your question.

Of course, they've been awaiting disposal since October 1916.

Yeah, that is something of a problem I have noticed. I am not sure where the ships are since the location data is pretty old, especially since the previous player last did a sim report for the 1st half of 1919. Should I just go with that data as being the most accurate?

Sachmle

I doubt much has 'moved' since Guinness did the OOB, just new ships added. I'd check w/ Tex, as he's the last active CSA player still on the board. Carth was never one for detail for the sake of detail, so I'm guessing he just kept what was there where it was.

Well, some ships were listed in the 1916 posting as being under repair or construction. I suppose I can always just assign them somewhere though.

How do you know when/if a ship has been refurbished though?

OVERHAULS AND REFITS

It is possible to overhaul a ship to return it to "good as built" condition.  Alternately, if new equipment is desired in addition to maintain the ship in good order, one can opt to give a ship a basic refit, a refurbishment, or reconstruction.

Overhauls

An overhaul is not a refit - no "new" equipment is installed.  It merely returns the ship to "as good as built" status - retaining the same effectiveness and technology that it did when originally constructed.  It is possible for a ship to go through its entire career undergoing only overhauls, and it will remain just as effective as it did when it was young; however, the ship might well be completely obsolescent in comparison to its newer counterparts.

A ship is due for an overhaul ten years after its date of completion or most recent overhaul or refurbishment.

An overhaul costs 10% of the original dollar cost of construction.  It requires 2.5 months, or 25% of the ship's original minimum time of construction - whichever is greater.  A drydock is required for the entire duration of the overhaul.

I read the rules and understand them. My question was how do I know when the ships were last overhauled, since some of them are nearing overhaul time and I want to stagger the refits to avoid reducing my forces too much.

ctwaterman

Ah.....  got it....

usually the player has a spread sheet and one of the lines on it is launched date and date of last overhaul, refit, or rebuild.  If you inherited the country and you didnt get a Spread Sheet with it from the former player well I guess you ask nicely if they are available such as moving to another country.

So Tex did you get a spread sheet or not...

I recieved one from Rocky, yes. I've got the old CSA one, but Carth screwed up things so much that I'm not sure if it would be useful anymore.

ctwaterman

But Does it have a list of construction dates and refit dates :)

Don't believe it did when I recieved it, and I sure didn't add any.

Delta Force

Well, that is somewhat problematic.

TexanCowboy

It can easily be figured out by going back through old sim reports, looking for laydown dates and completions, tho. And some of the older Carth ships have laydown dates on their encyclopedia posts, and the completion date can be figured from that.

Delta Force

Yeah, it's not a massive problem since there are laydown and completion dates. I can just go back and see if there have been any overhauls done. The fleet overall is very young though, so I won't have to go back too far. Most of the ships are only 12 years old or so.
