Increased superstructure size; should fit ~ 90 people, traveling is a bit difficult however.

Tanthalas

I realy Hate to be the complainer about a DD with ample Super Structure, but it looks a tad bit top heavy (I recived the same complaint about Rohans 1916 class when I first drew them)
"He either fears his fate too much,
Or his desserts are small,
Who dares not put it to the touch,
To win or lose it all!"

James Graham, 5th Earl of Montrose
1612 to 1650
Royalist General during the English Civil War

Logi

Hmmm... you're probably right. I put too much of the superstructure at the fore bridge. I'll see if I can shift some of that towards the aft-bridge.

Logi

How this? I moved quite some of the fore bridge space to the aft bridge. The ships looks a bit more balanced now at least.

A light cruiser, slow, but it keeps the tonnage low.

it's a very economical design - can afford lots  ;D

but I do wonder if 6 centreline twin 6" will fit in 500'? - and stability is on the low side  (4 raised mounts isn't helping) - need to adjust the trim

Deck only 6' high -  Asian style !

They are similar in size to RN Arethiusa's - but they had only 3 twin 6 inch

Logi

I would think so:
According to Knowledge Base->Data and information about ships->Leo F:
Quote6"/47 Twin Turret CL-144 Class: Inner Diameter 18 ft. 10 in.

As all the guns are arranged centerline, superfiring over each other, there is no concern, really, for barrel length.

If spaced up exactly it would be 114' for all six guns.

Adding in space of say 5' between each gun you get, 134' for the whole setup.

The two triple TTs arranged centerline, center, take up 50'.

Total: 184' excluding superstructure.

Based of forecastle and quarterdeck: The ship only have 325' of available length.
Subtract the gun%TT total; 141' left for the superstructure.

I think that's more than enough.

Stability fixed at price of belt height.

That's a really big recoil.....and it doesn't really have the speed to outrun anything that could catch it....

maddox

Recoil is survivable. But what role does this ship have in the RRC fleet?

Jefgte

Quote...But what role does this ship have in the RRC fleet?...

IMO, that ship is not made to work alone but in the battlefleet-
- Scouting.
- Help the BBs & BCs in the job.
- Repulse other cruisers too.
- Escort.

Her job could be extended by adding serious secondaries guns to defend the big ships vs DDs torpedoes attack.

"good sea boat..." is an interresting SS option to work at ful speed in heavy sea.

28kts is short for 1921 -
Protection is light vs other 6" cruiser.

With that concept, this Cruiser is a good BBs protector vs DDs torpedo attack.

28kts is short for the time, but higher speeds warrant an extra ~1000 tons. The purpose is not to chase but to deter.

Armor covers the entire length of the ship rather than being thick and is quite high for it's type. Inclined 20 degrees to improve effectiveness to ~2.4". Armour can be bumped to 3" or 4" at 20 degrees if full coverage is sacrificed.

I do not believe in all-or-nothing schemes of small ships, but will churn out design at home.

Armour coverage decreased, thickness increased to 4". Speed increased by 2 kts and tonnage by 1000 tons. Removed secondary FCS, increased no. of TT by one.
