Ahoj!
Anyhow, the soonest I actually can put those 42cm guns to sea is ... drum roll ... 1st HY 1926.

Logi: How do those degrees relate to range? Also, the 25mm isn't a decapping plate, per se (at least the way I understand it). It's a fuse initiating plate made to arm the nose fuse on AP rounds, there by starting the timer so the shell explodes between the 25mm deck and the 75(100)mm deck. Then the 75(100)mm deck just has to contain the explosion, with a 25mm deck under it just in case of splinters.

Borys: LOL!

Correct Sam ,that is the idea/philosophy behind both the Ocean class as well as in Gen.Kassar

Logi

It does not, but its far easier for me to look at than looking for the ranges ;)

Well I thought that was the idea behind it, but I have no clue how to show that in BigGun :-X

Sachmle

I don't either honestly, but the idea behind a single thick deck is to actually refuse the shell. But you'd need a 6.5"/7" deck for some of the later big guns. With the fusing deck, you don't want to stop it from penetrating, you just want to make sure it's fused. Of course CL armor (3-4") didn't always fuse AP rounds, so 25mm may be thin for the future, but should be fine for the foreseeable future (i.e. no hindsightitis)
