... so the moment you put troops there, it is no longer perfect...

Nice big explosions (that would make Texan envious) made this archipelago...

The terrain would be perfect for those awesome Swiss style cave airfields. I just have no real reason to build them (beyond awesomeness). What really sucks about the map is that now I'm going to have to spend all this money on bases all over the place.

Cleaned up a bit more. Now with giant lagoon/crater (Yellowstone, you just got beat!).

But would it make BR envious?  ;)

To put it into perspective, the Yellowstone caldera is 50 miles in diameter, that crater lake you see, is 100 miles in diameter...

Now I just have to name all those islands... Let's see what places I can raid, West Coast USA, British Columbia, Western Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland...

I am open to suggestions.

Its also larger by a good amount than any other caldera on earth.  Why not make it a little smaller?

Here is some info on supervolcanos

What if it's not a supervolcano but meteorite crater?

edit: it might be too large for one, though...

It's probably where the NS SuperScience lab WAS.

The DKB Intelligence is really good... Well there was that supervolcano that cleared the archipelago of most population. I could make the caldera a bit smaller.

I'd just make the connection to the northern part of the island a bit less tenuous.
As it appears now, it's almost like there is a giant 'crack' bisecting the caldera and opening it to the ocean.

Well you never know with Navalism. :)

From wiki:
QuoteMimas' most distinctive feature is a colossal impact crater 130 kilometres (81 mi) across, named Herschel after the moon's discoverer. Herschel's diameter is almost a third of the moon's own diameter; its walls are approximately 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) high, parts of its floor measure 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) deep, and its central peak rises 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) above the crater floor. If there were a crater of an equivalent scale on Earth it would be over 4,000 kilometres (2,500 mi) in diameter, wider than Canada.

Both maps are to the same scale.
