Couldn't resist to test a short Dreadnought for Peru with the Study 5 disposition for the 4 side turrets:
side alterned superfiring.

While it seems that the aft mounts would have no trouble firing both to port, the fore port mount doesn't appear to have enough clearance to swing to starboard.

Very good. I've taken a fourth look and now see the shortness of the barrels allow it to swing to starboard w/o hitting the superstructure. Nice work Jef.

The 3000@10 range is abysmal IMHO. A mere 12 day range. Especially for oil firing. I'd call it a 'harbor defense battleship'.

Without upper belt and casemate armor, the ship could be defeated by cruisers/destroyers firing 4-6" guns at all the unarmed freeboard.

As to the second part - IF the enemy cruisers/destroyers get close enough.
But true - smaller navies cannot rely on numbers, but quality, so maybe a 4" Upper Belt?
As this ship is Espana sized, at 4x2x12" it would make a nice little package.

Actaully I was agreeing with Borys and P3D on the range and armor issues of this being an ocean going combat battleship.  But keeping away from hostile operating areas is fine too.  You only have a 1,500 nm operating radius at best, and more likely only 1,000 plus time on station.
