New Zion with considerable Swiss help is planning to build a couple of these. One of them will be built in NS. It incorporates a mix of Swiss and Zionist technology. NS is providing much of the high tech and some plans free of charge.

She is similar to the Humpreys class.

IMO this ship completely disregards the existing threats to New Zion. Minimal speed should be 23-24kts for anything NZ is building - the Brandenburgers are even bigger speed freaks than the Swiss.

The ship is wasting displacement on single turrets. Two twins would allow you the exact same broadside with two less guns.
Also, oil firing might be a problem - there are no friendly people out there to supply New Zion.

Agreed.  I'm also not enamored with hull casemates on a 12' freeboard - as the report notes, those secondaries will be useless in most weather conditions.  The floor of the gun deck will only be four feet above the waterline.

Actually I took a careful look at what Brandenburg had before designing this ship. The only German ships faster than 20kts are S&G and the DKB cannot afford to send those ships against NZ as long as Constitution and Alliance are around.

The ships these where designed to counter are the the ex-GC cruisers (Roon & Yorck), they have a broadside of 4x194mm and 6x150mm. They can make 19.6 kts and have slightly heavier but much older armor.

Why singles? I wanted her to be a bit different and keep some of the Caliphate ancestry. I also think that sinlges would be better in the confines of the Mozambique Channel. However I do have a design with 2 10" twins with 6" twins superfiring over them. Same broadside with 6 less guns. It would also solve the secondaries problem.

As for the Oil Firing, there is one country out there willing to supply it to New Zion...

The problem is the planned Grosser Kreuzer, which ships WILL be stationed in Ostafrika. 6x240mm, 25kts.

Superfiring 6" is not allowed by the rules.
The Mozambique Channel is a mere 400nm wide.
And which is the country that would supply New Zion - especially when they get into war with the DKB? Russia, the Netherlands or CSA? Re-exporting des not count.
Orange have enough oil to cover wartime fleet/Army usage, but not enough to export.
OTOH Zion must import hard coal, so a switch might be reasonable.

The current design is strong enough to be a match for the planned GKs in everything except speed and with 2 against 1, the odds are good for the Jews.

As for the superfiring 6 inchers, NS has them on Antares, Hawaii, and Geneva. And its not any different than the Constellation except that the bottom 8" are replaced with 10", but since there is not enough tonnage for superfiring 10" they are replaced with 6". If anything they are more period appropriate than Constellation, with their mixed armament.

NS can supply New Zion, and then there are the Ottomans...

There won't be a single new ship build by turreted 6" secondaries until the relavant technology is researched.

NS does not have any oil resources. Therefore anything but a reliable supplier. And the Ottomans have not yet started oil exploration either.
New Zion won't buy anything that is already obsolete on the drawing boards. Cannot catch old armored cruiser, nor remain afloat against battleships. It's best bet is to buy used BBs and ACs for coastal defense, and use its own limited shipbuilding capacity to build destroyers, submarines and patrol boats.
NTM that NZ is lacking the heavy industry to make large guns and thick armor plates.

And what Zion is building would be decided by the moderators.

Well that leaves two choices for the Swiss:  Build something for Zion that would suit their needs against the Germans, or sell then the Swiss's older warships to fill in gaps  in the Zion defenses.

My personal feeling on the matter would be a mix of both.  Sell Zion some of the older but fast Swiss light ships, and then build them a set of decent coastal defense battleships (fast if you like).  If you think Zion would still desire something to counter the P.D. (ex-Anahuac Battlebarge 11) teh Swiss will need to come up with something that will punch through nearly 13 inches of armor at range and yet be able to sutain getting hit by 13 inch guns for long enough to either run away, hold until backup can arrive, or sink the beast.  They aren't easy to kill, Rohan knows this.  Why else would Rohan have gone after 14 inch guns and have 6 main guns standard so far back?  To kill Anahuac warships at range, before they got in close for a melee (which happened during the war due to Rohan's inferior speed).

I dont have oil sources (yet...) but have secured oil imports from both the Dutch and the Ottomans. And the Ottomans (at least according to Alikchi) have plenty of oil.

Can they pick and choose when they are so limited Industrial wise? Yes they need DDs, SSs, and PBs, but they need some heavier ships to provide support for the light boats. These cruisers are not obsolete against what the Germans can bring to the table or for that matter the Italians and the Egyptians. Old ships are nice but they are no match for the likes of PD, and there aren't many on the market right now (and those that are are probably going to be snatched up by NS).

This ship should suit Zion just fine, its not big enough to be too expensive and cause a German backlash, but strong enough to be a deterent, its more than a match for the current German cruisers in theater and 2 of them could take on a Bismark.

Unfortunately I dont have any Old and Fast light ships avilable to sell them (but I do have 3 subs), or any heavy ship capable of taking on PD. Building them a pair of decent fast CBs is exacly what Im trying to do.

There was not much historical oil production in the Ottoman territories in 1906. And that's the starting point. Your secured imports worth nothing if someone decides to blockade Zion.

OMG!  :o What where the Finnish thinking building such obsolete ships in 1929!

Seems like the Swedes aren't any better! They didnt even bother to read the rules! They should be penalized for putting twin 6" turrents on their 1903 ship, after all the rules clearly state: No Turrented Secondaries untill 1914.

The ships are not obsolete but pretty decent Coastal Battleships, there's only so much you can do in 5,000 tons. And its common knowledge that a 5,000 ton ship is going to be outclassed by a 10,000 ton one. Yet these ships are a pretty good match against Bismark. Bismark is much faster but has less armor slightly heavier main weapons (4x11") but weaker secondaries (88mm only). One of these could take Bismark on equal terms and thats a lot to be said of a 5,000 ton ship vs a 10,000 ton one.

Zion is not going to build it and they already have 4 very obsolete ships which can be scraped to provide the raw materials needed.

The Mozambique Channel is a bit different from the Baltic Sea, which puts Zion into a completely different strategical situation making Swedish and Finnish comparison irrelevant.

And there were reasons why it is not allowed to build turreted 6" secondaries. Some severe Hindsightitis some players apparently suffers from.

I used the Swedes and the Finns because of their ships they had not because of their position. Other countries generaly had more money to spend.

Well I could replace the 10" and 6" guns with 8" guns which would be prefectly in line with the rules but would be even more advanced than the current version. And before you accuse me of Hindsightitis look at the first version of Jerusalem.
