Title: Ships of the Imperial Ottoman Fleet- pre start
Post by: Darman on October 06, 2012, 05:10:52 PM
The Ottomans are having a design contest.  And yes I'm being very vague.  I want to see what comes up.

A battleship between 10,000 and 11,000 light tons: slow speed, heavy armor, heavy guns.

An armored cruiser between 8,000 and 9,000 tons: ~20/21 knots, heavy armor and heavy guns.

A destroyer leader between 1,000 and 1,300 tons: flagship facilities, ~26 knots, heavy gun armament for a destroyer in exchange for no torpedoes.  Ships can be lighter than 1,000 tons if everything can be fit onto a smaller hull.  Some miscellaneous weight left over for refits.

A destroyer around 425-475 light tons: light gun armament, ~26 or 27 knots, heavy torpedo armament, no need for long legs.

A torpedo boat between 250 and 300 light tons: very light gun armament, ~27 or 28 knots, heavy torpedo armament, short legs.

Thank you for the battleships.  Anyone want to take a crack at an armored cruiser?

For the AC's, I can offer the Ariadne design.

For DDs, I can offer both the Chamois and Destructive class designs.

I may be taking you up on that offer.  Now priorities for ship=classes are in the destroyer leader and torpedo boat designs.

On this one, you'll probably want to replace the M1895s in 6mm Lee Navy with whatever the Ottoman Empire is using.
