We have much Fleets to built...

Are we going to use Terra Nova (N4.5)vessels building rules ?

We don't have a treaty restricting gun sizes, etc.  The USN, for instance, around game-start, is building more ships (the Kearsarges) armed with 13"/35 guns.  The block coefficient limit's also a bit of a problem when designing historical USN ships from this period, some of them were just bricks.

The Starting Vessels section is probably useless, other than the note on how to do protected cruisers, use historical designs for your country or similar.

Not cool for France, the ships of the "Jeune Ecole" were not very good...
I don't want to use Hoche, Brennus or Jeanne d'Arc & much other...
The only good cruiser was the Dupleix class.

My Danton class use 2T2x305+4T2x240, not 6T2x240.
Courbet with alterned deck side turrets is also a perso study.

I rework armament & speed but use the same tonnage.

Anything after start date is likely up to us, within broad parameters of history, so your Dantons would be fine (though the historical Dantons are 2x2x305mm + 6x2x240mm).


I sympathize on the cruisers, the USN's pretty lacking there as well.  USS New York's OK, Brooklyn's .... well, French-based, and after that there's only Olympia and the two Elswick cruisers that are worth much.


If we're going to be allowed to go off and design our own in the pre-start, I've not yet heard.  That's why I'm designing various OTL USN ships.

Right now I am considering how we want to handle the pre-start ships, I want fleets to be smallish so we dont have to do extensive simming pre-start. What I am thinking of doing is 5 years of productuion can be used to build starting fleets, infra, armies ect. Should you want to design ships at this time, I would stick with historical design types and ideas, but do not feel obligated to use exact copies of historical ships. Use of historical weapons from your nation is highly advised as that would be a likely starting point for any tech relating to the matter. At this time, consider a start date of 1900 with ships dating from 1895. This is very tentative and may change substantially by game start.

I'm looking at early Japanese battleships, mostly of RN designs slightly (or majorly) modified by the Japanese.  They werent built in Japanese shipyards though.

I'm not nearly up to that point yet.  I'm still on the Shiti....excuse me, the Shikishima-class
