Stumbled across this on the net one day trying to look for SS-designed ships.
Looks like there is a new program coming out to challenge SS3.0.

New SpringForm Screenshots

Got to do some game coding today -- for the first time this year -- so here are some new screenshots showing gun data, and guns in SpringForm's generated ship profile: http://www.mikekreuzer.com/springform.htm.

Gun data is working for all the batteries, though I haven't double checked the weight & shell weight calculations yet. The turret armour figures are just place holders so far. Armour is next cab off the rank. So far there are a maximum of 136 (!) armour data points for each ship, though that might go up or down a bit yet. As you can see in the screen shots, each gun house has separate values for front, side, rear, and crown armour, as well as slope, thickness & type for each face.

Will SpringForm run on Vista? Probably, but I don't know. When I release a tech alpha (soon) someone will have to tell me.

As an aside, the Springsharp guys (the competition I guess, but this is all freeware we're talking about) have updated their software:

I'm not gonna steer ya'll wrong! ;)
