40-50 hp is a lot in that age.

15 to 25 was the best gotten for a motorcar or truck.

Stronger but light motors can be found in airchraft.

Ahoj!
I am confused.
I posses this technolgy level:
1900 Advanced (+1): Land and airship engines up to 200HP, 50HP aeroplane engines

The Ford model K 1906-08? has a 40Hp engine, from the sources I can find

Then it is a no brainer, I had to look at the tech tree.

Borys

Ahoj!
So the Tatra 10-tonner has two 25HP engines, one for each axle.
Everybody happy now?
:D

Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost had 48 HP engines. In 7 liters.
There are larger engines. The question is whether they'd fit in a small car.

QuoteWell, this the 2nd prototype of the 10-ton durban Motors truck with the 200HP engine. It is called 10-ton, as the chassis is strengthened to take a maximum vehicle weight of 10 tons. Unfortunately, the only place where the 40-liter engine could fit was in the back of the truck, and it is so huge that there's no place for much payload on this monster.

***Of course, there's enough space to fit a revolving turret with two MGs, and enough armor to stop small-arms fire. However, the first prototype was unfortunately top-heavy, and was prone fall on one side.***

My light truck is going to be a 1/4-ton 4x2 (changed it). It'll have an engine of similar size, displacement and efficiency to that of the Model T (175 in³/20 HP), a top speed of 40 MPH (lower geared than the Model T), and a rough fuel economy of 18 MPG on either gasoline or ethanol*. The wheels are driven by chains, allowing the truck to have higher ground clearance... but also meaning that you have the chance of popping the chain if you put it in too much of a bind.

The heavy truck will be a 11/2-ton model similar to the Mack AB. It'll have a (rather large and heavy) 475 in³/40 HP engine also designed to run off either gasoline or ethanol. It's a more conventional drive setup rather than a chain. It's big and heavy, with a top speed of 30 MPH downhill with a stiff tailwind. It can, however, haul around a 11/2 trailer... meaning an average-sized artillery piece and ammo caisson. The cab is somewhat cramped, but the low gearing means that a driver can actually walk alongside the vehicle while steering to stretch.

Both are typical of the late 1900's - 1910's.

*The CSA is thinking about using ethanol as a civilian fuel for motor vehicles. Since most of the populace are in farm-related work, they have access to source materials... and most Southrons are good at making pure ethanol, which they call 'sellin' liquor.'
So 'ere's to you, Fuzzy-Wuzzy, at your 'ome in old Baghdad;
You're a pore benighted 'eathen but a first-class fightin' man;
We gives you your certificate, an' if you want it signed
We'll come an' 'ave a romp with you whenever you're inclined.

Standley Steamers again for Rohan, but an improved model (historical 1906 models...if this was a short race I'd be using the Standley Rocket...holder of the land speed record, which I need to make news about...still holds the record for fastested land steam car as around 127 miles per hour I believe.)
