I'm going with the 17%, so 90/.17 = 529mm, not 90/.2 = 450.
I've also been wondering if the slope of the decapping plate should be considered. It adds~5% to thickness, so 90 becomes 94.5 = 555
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

I thought we'd established the rule was 20%?

No idea about the slope.

Don't think I've posted the G-class sloops, but if I have, I'm sure it's worth another look.

They have the same role as the Quackenbruck class, which is to protect Union auxiliaries doing their thing on the high seas.  This means a highish speed and a heavy armament, including torpedoes.
