All -
We've had a number of ship design threads which have made NPC and unstaffed PC ships.

I am thinking that a good project is to first move these to the appropriate threads.

Maya and Laksmanavati first.

Then update Iberia to 1934.

SmokeGrenadiers still expresses a desire to join, but has lacked the free time.
Updating the Norse to 1932 would help lay that foundation should he get the time.

I have not heard from Desert Fox.
He's been silent for 2 years and was last active over a year ago.

Should all those get done, I think we should consider getting Japan up to date.
Should Fox find the time and desire to come back, he could pick it up again,
but it's very hard to design against ships you're guessing at.

As a side project I may run turns for China to figure out what they may have
and then have some design competitions as a contrast to Japan.

All of this is just musing for the fall, not set in stone.

I've got some direct contact with foxy, I can work up his philosophy and ships if others want to take on the other powers.  I think Jef has the mayans aesthetic down on that end.

From fox

Recovering from two failed wars. I had a modernization plan based on a few 16" capital ships and a ton of heavy and light cruisers, a few light carriers, and a lot of destroyers.

He refers to amagi types.  So well protected battlecruisers

I'm thinking the Japanese go somewhat historical with speed, firepower, armor in that order.

Basically.

Also probably means he doesn't get into the bigger guns competition.

Likely going for 8 x 16in gun ships that are faster and faster instead

I can work on some shipping for the Japanese when I get back from holiday

Sorry, not going to happen.

NPC not PC

Snip's design is that PCs have economies, NPCs are scaled off the PCs to keep them relevant.
I may explore an NPC's tech tree to see if the original Tech scaling should hold up 25 years later,
as the entire design of declining costs for older techs is meant to allow catch up, or be close behind.

While I figure folks like the Mayans are paying the Iberians ~$2.5 & 1.5BP / HY for an Air point (fixed tech lvl) and a Sub, that +$1 income does not get reflected in the Iberian Economy. That low rate also keeps their 'modern' force rather small compared to their larger force.
Thinking on it, the Chinese would be perfect for that role for the Eastern NPCs- and maybe Peru as well.

But populating the various encyclopedias with the ships generated in the Ship Design thread would be good.

Other projects to play with as I have spare time and interest... so slooooowly.
Many of these I'm kinda thinking Thanksgiving week, while I visit relatives.

- I still need to consolidate the coastal defense chart, or try, per Rocky's request.
I will try to keep the

- A have a partially built chart tracking naval artillery by introduction year and ROF from NavWeaps.
When I get it *done* I can do a linear regression to extrapolate the ROF for our custom weapons, and the effects of newer mountings.

- I have a partially built chart of mostly British aircraft by introduction date and type,to provide range/speed/payload data for air points.

-I have a list of german subs tracking their length and tonnage, which I used to figure out what drydocks lengths different types needed.

- I need to read some books I have.  See if I can come up with better MTB dimensions, and get a better appreciation on performance.

- go back to the spreadsheet I built for putting SS data in SeeKrieg V format and see if I can make it simpler/more useful prior to next needing it.

- I want to finish my Parthian history maps from so long ago. I also want to find the time to build world history maps by century for the Globe as well, but Paint.net has a disagreement with my new laptop that I haven't resolved yet.

- And I want to return to posting up various Parthian tales. Probably variations on the ones I am trying to get around to since 1910.

IF there are specific things folks would rather I prioritize, let me know.
AND ...just because I come up with something, that does not mean it's final.
The original rules we all agreed to when we started. Snip retains his mod veto to keep me on track :)
Everything after is mutually agreed.

Ok, now lets see if I can remember to hit post, then scroll down and hit post again,
rather than hit post, and close the tab, thus loosing the long post like the first time...

I was kinda expecting his might go with a great deal of destroyers and light cruisers, backed by a handful of battlecruisers. But I really have not had much to design against. I mainly have looked at Roman designs for fast cruisers, but I have not had a guide if I was laying down enough cruisers.

My thoughts based on his impressions, are things like the Mogami.   Heavy cruisers that aren't immune to their own guns, but are rather fast

#11
Foxy's last class the Aoba was fast and light with minimal armor - I think I saw him make some 'who needs armor' comment in the design thread when I was putting together the below chart.

But Rome has some 'heavy cruisers' with speed and size, but relatively light armor.

So sounds like my looking at Rome as an OPFOR for both Malta and the IJN will work out :)
BCs my rearmed old dreadnaughts can take on...can't catch, but can fight at any range they choose.
Though Cruiser numbers will be interesting as I can't adjust my cruiser builds with hindsight.

Note : The chart was something I made for my own purposes, and skips the very latest ships, focusing on those that have likely been in service long enough that the Parthians can evaluate them and their Naval Intelligence gotten some data.  Its meant as a reality check on my future design choices.
