Generally I avoid commenting on Byzantine ships, as I'd like to see them armored with satin sheets and armed with pillows...
However, many of your designs are very compact and so I like to examine them to see how you're doing it :)
For these I keep coming up in the 12-13,000 ton range for my parameters, which is vastly larger....

But trying to understand CHAGB6800..
There is an upper belt, ..but a single protected deck.
So there's no armor deck capping the upper belt.
is the idea of the upper belt to guard against diving shells coming over the main belt and landing on the slope of the protective deck?

Also, the TDS is 5.0m which seemed odd, they normally default to an odd height.
Putting in the hull parameters, you shaved off 0.11m... so presumably it does not even come up to the waterline?
I realize I do overkill by extending mine to the bottom of my armor decks, but trimming it seems like a curious choice.
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

So there's no armor deck capping the upper belt.
is the idea of the upper belt to guard against diving shells coming over the main belt and landing on the slope of the protective deck?

Also, the TDS is 5.0m which seemed odd, they normally default to an odd height.
Putting in the hull parameters, you shaved off 0.11m... so presumably it does not even come up to the waterline?
I realize I do overkill by extending mine to the bottom of my armor decks, but trimming it seems like a curious choice.

It's often quick SS that I post to see the feasibility of certain ideas.
If this class is built, the SS will be adjusted.

Yeah, I was intrigued enough to design a near-duplicate, but then I started tweaking and it grew to 13,000 t.

I like this one.

M class, Byzantine Empire AGB3000 laid down 1928

Looks good, I will have to take a closer look to see where it differs from my Sibari gunboats,
I see you managed more speed, about the same armor.  I'm guessing the armament weight is about the same,
which may mean you have a more efficient hull shape.
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

I've played with both styles, using 180s and 130s.  Honestly, given that 152s are DD killers and have enough RoF, I'd rather have more 152s and skip the 120s.

This dynamic would change if you had DP secondaries, as then you have to balance AA fires and surface fires.

To me, the 152mm should train and fire fast enough the 120mm would be redundant. Even single 191s should be reasonable in that role without the 120s.

For my vessel, I have roughly the same weapons, but 6x 165 + 6x163 HOW, to focus on its gunboat role. Given the speed difference, I should have had tonnage to do more :)
I believe one of my Scout Frigate proposals looked more like your configuration, but at 28knots, not fast enough for the role I wanted.
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

Gunboat intended for use in the colonies. The armament has been favored over the speed and the protection which nevertheless remains correct.

Looks pretty good except the hull strength needs to be 1.00 to go with the turrets...
