I know its a ways off, but I want to throw an early draft of the LBS-21 program out for a sanity check. Intended to be a fusion of the Battleship and Large Armored Cruiser types into what im still debating what the IC nomiculture will be but are basically Fast Battleships. Since this will be the first class of capital ships layed down since the passing of Emperor Trajan VIII, the first ship of this class will follow the tradition that the first capital ship constructed during the reign of a new Emperor/Empress is named for them. So regardless of the final form, the lead ship will be the IRS Empress Amelia.

The Rock Doctor

Kaiser Kirk

It's gigantic.

For 8 guns and ordinary armor,
that's a huge price for speed.

You could probably slim it down
by extending your freeboard aft
and making the ship shorter.

Kinda like the commitment to an anti-DD secondary.

Then there's the question - can you afford enough of these
to meet your needs?
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

TacCovert4

And honestly,  the speed isn't even that great.  At that tonnage I'd expect 30, maybe 32kt.  Considering the armor and guns, I think that 30kt is a reasonable minimum.....it's basically Bismarck with bigger mains.

Sure, whats another 1000t at this point.

To lightly procrastinate on the reports I need to catch up on....

The current 1921-1926 building plan is calling for ten Heavy Destroyers. Differing from the preceding Ambrogino Masin class, itself an updated Ranier Marion, this new design is 500t larger with most of the increase going into more powerful engines and greatly improved range.

Very interesting design.  Competitive against the 280mm gunned Razees in Aztec service.  Probably 1-1 good for taking out the Uhlan-class (whichever variety I choose there), but also notably heavier and more expensive than them.

That is quite a beast and will probably prompt some thinking by the Union in time.
