Desertfox

Building off the sailing ship as ASW sloop idea, these are modified versions of the reconnaissance schooners, designed for ASW work. They have a better engine, longer range, and light armament.

All depends on mission.  If you want this class to be your utility destroyer, probably pull one torp launcher and add more asw.   If you want a baby fleet dd.....it might be ok as is

First purpose build aviation ship is a pair of seaplane tenders. They are based on the Matsu Maru fast transport hull. While the can carry up to 6 aircraft, they usually only operate with 4. They do have facilities to conduct repairs on heavy twin seaplanes but can't carry them.

Follow-on to the Furutakas. 900t heavier adds improved main guns, heavier torpedo loadout, 2 knots, and some actual (but light) armor. Not completely convinced about this design yet, would be nice if I could get it under 4k.

Screw it, armor is overated. Only 100t more expensive but adds better guns, better torpedoes, and a knot. An extra knot and a 2" belt was not worth the 800t.

Neat way to make something super-light.  But I worry about running a ship with basically no protection these days.  Something like an Eagle-class, which is much older would make short work of her.  Hell a Toucan with a FC refit might be able to give one of these a good fight just because it can take a couple of hits before major components start to be disabled.  With all the super-cruisers running about, I'd worry about this type.
