Yeah, This 700t DD would probably be able to go toe to toe with the 1000t DD in a gunfight by virtue of the bigger guns.

I might suggest working 4x120 into your 1000t DD to give it the firepower to match with contemporary DDs.

For a 79.8m Patrol Boat/DE build in an 80m shipyard, I am more interested with a long range wireless than an extra gun. Add 25t is huge when all the guns are already 44t ...
OTL => DE have lower firepower than DD.

I think it comes down to what you want to do with it.  3 x 120 is sufficient, but will suffer against the larger fleet destroyers that'll be laid down concurrently or even some already in service.  4 x 120 will make a better fleet destroyer, but the lack of LR wireless may hamper colonial duties as the ship will rely on relays from ashore radio stations.

DD=> 44 SS
TGB=> 66 SS

in 1917, 15 SS are really in the Fleet.
They are used in 3 categories:
- 32 Patrol boat from 500 to 900t, used in colonies
- 90 Destroyers from 500t to 1140t used in the High Sea Fleet
- 42 Torpedo boat  from 400t to 600t for coastal operations

So after all that planning, you're scrapping the idea?

QuoteSo after all that planning, you're scrapping the idea?

Yes, I am giving up on the idea.

In 1917, Navies build destroyers from 1000t to 1500t (30kts).
Byzantium can no longer take 500t destroyers as sufficiently fast and powerful ships.
They are therefore downgraded to colonial patrol boats or coastal torpedo boats.
The 500t (21kts) TGBs from 1897-98-99 will soon be scrapped.
They will be replaced, for the colonial works, by 500t Torpedo Boats (25kts)1901-02-04.

=> In the 1918 classification, the DDs must do at least 750t.

That give for Byzance:
- 51 DDs from 750t to 1140t
- 81 TBs from 400 to 600t.

The last..10? Parthian cruisers are 8x165mm, while the preceding had 10x165mm.  These Byzantine ships have comparable speed and armor and bigger guns. I'd have to go back to the Saka & Margaetae 180mm raider cruisers to really counter. So fielding these might lead to a Parthian reaction...like theCapharact light armored cruisers I've designed so many variations on.

but..this one has a flaw.

Sorry Jefgte,
this ship has turrets, and so needs 1.0 hull.

"Cruiser Architecture: For all years, Cruisers with turrets shall have a composite hull strength > 1.0."

On the other hand, you don't need to stick to 6000 tons as a result.

Due to weights, turrets are indeed likely necessary for the twin 191mm to be useful.

I think destroyers equipped with 2T2x102 or 2T2x120

Actually that's a twin mount.  Just like the 5in/38 twin.  Mount and hoist.  Even the US 8in mounts on Pensacola weren't turrets.   It was a weakness at that size, but it was a weight saving option.   Hence my 180 twin is a mount and hoist with additional power assist instead of a turret so I can get by without needing turrets on my weapon class cruisers.

"Cruisers, always more cruisers"

Byzantium has 16 scout cruisers with a speed from 26 to 29kts. 2 others, C6 class were laid down in 1918.
They are very similar to the C5 class (5315t - 6x191+6x120 and 27kts).
Differences relate to the arrangement of the (classic) 6 x 191 arranged at the ends (ABC) (XYZ) B & X superfiring.
Speed also increased to 29kts, the range goes from 6500nm-12kts to 8000nm-12kts.

The aeronautical officers have requested a lengthening of the ships in order to be able to maneuver the SHORT 184 seaplanes more easily. The hull has received an additional 10m module.
This made it possible to increase store volumes.
The class increase from 5200t to 5550t.

=> Rework Antalya class Seaplanes Transport from 5200t to 5550t - LD1919

These seaplane transports are also intended for working with battleships squadrons.
The role of seaplanes on land and on board is to locate and provide informations on enemy forces and their movements.
Assistance in adjusting shots.
Hunt enemy aerial reconnaissance.
