This Torpedo Boat class is intended for work in archipelagos, narrow seas and near harbors.
Egée Sea, Red Sea, around Madagascar, Timor Sea...
To maintain the tonnage at 500t and have a powerful surface armament, the ASW function has been sacrificed.
Submarines in 1920 did not represent a very serious threat.
ASW work is for biger TBs & DDs.

Pretty much what I was looking for in my Pesh-Kabr.
I wanted something that could be built in numbers for the 'green' waters,
but also a dedicated leader for MTBs on high speed runs.

I will have to find time to examine the reposted long range version,
figure out how to make my Pesh-Kabr better.
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

Then, reconstruction is more expensive than refurbishment ...too expensive I think for an old hull & a second class BB.

The cash cost of the new engines would be twice as much as the BP cost.

I think it is not worth the expense, but that's me.

Ok, that was a rapid calculation. Thanks

QuoteI think it is not worth the expense, but that's me.

It is difficult to increase the speed to 27kts without having poor seakeeping.
These reconstructions can be numerous in a colonial squadron near the BBs and face other 4000-5000t cruisers. They can serve another 10 to 12 years.
With these colonies in the Atlantic and in the Indian Ocean, Byzantium needs cruisers and GB in quantity... like most of us.

In 1921, Byzantium will have 44 cruisers:
- 20 squadron cruisers 24/29kts
- 16 of 21kts.
- 8 in reconstruction 24/27kts

Think I've got ~32 cruisers at the moment, not counting ACs/BCs, but my sealanes are a bit more compact than Byzantium's.
