When working on designs for a proposed 1500t cruiser, the designer of the 'surprising' SC-1 class has an epiphany.  His Scout Cruiser had proven to be unsuccessful as a fleet scout or even as a fleet screening vessel.  However, its small size, high speed, and long range had all been excellent traits for commerce raiding.  Looking at turbines even now coming into service, a proposal for a follow on class is put forth.  The major difference being that the follow on ship has more speed, more operational range, and more firepower than the SC-1 class.....but on 1500 tons:

This could be a nuisance.

A small thing, but I'm thinking a couple more machine guns on each side.  Good for threatening or covering specific parts of a target while it's being boarded.

Good point.  I can probably add at least 2 if not 4  ore 12mm mg,  or drop down to 8mm mg and increase the number.

A lot of compromise is in this design of course.  For 1918 getting a ship to this level of cruising performance on that tonnage is going to be problematic.   Plus,  as a nod to the commerce warfare aspect, I've opted for the 18in torpedo but in quantity,  rather than the heavyweight 21in torpedo I could do.   18in should be sufficient for putting down a ship, or making attacks on commercial shipping or fleet trains.

Yeah, the torpedo selection makes sense to me.  The average civilian freighter will not do well eating even a single 18", so fewer 21" would be overkill.

TacCovert4

Revised per Rocky's Suggestion. Double the number of 12mm MGs, in single rather than twin mounts to give more points of fire for covering ships being boarded.

Naturally with a 6 x 100mm design, there's a competing 130mm gunned variant.  The 130 being the 'new' primary gun for secondary batteries and destroyers due to its heavier punch and 3km longer visually confirmable (FC) range.  The downside is that ammunition capacity is half that of the smaller gunned variant and rate of fire is going to be half or slightly less than half.

Well when I consider "crew comfort " options I consider them not as built in systems so much as compartments not already dedicated to normal shipboard operations.   So thef crew comfort would basically be an enlisted lounge, or in the case of this ship,  probably a stockroom with chocolate and other comfort items since 4t is a bit small for a lounge.

I have one variant of this with twin instead of triple launchers and thus 8 torpedoes instead of 12.  Results in 12t or so of crew comfort apace, which could be important for a ship this size expected to operate solo for between 20 and 50 days on the high seas without refueling.  Potentially 6 months or more with periodic at sea refueling.

With the Norse coming out of a long-term period of isolationism, the Sultanate's engineers and planners see an opportunity to exploit the turbulent balance of power with new capital ship designs.  One Engineer, a transplant by the name of Tillman, proposes that the Sultanate aim for the most powerful ships it can build:

Ahh, didn't update the notes on below waterline tonnage to reflect the change down in speed.

With 1918 being the first year in which the new 1500t classes can be laid down, proposals are made for a 'fleet destroyer'.  Given the Aztec fleet arrangements, the large destroyers in the navy are principally used as DD leaders and tasked with fighting against enemy scouting or screening destroyers and screening the fleet from torpedo boats.  Secondarily they are to be a backstop force in the large 'torpedo attack' squadrons that the fleet runs (mixed GTBs and MTBs).  While they 'may' be multi-role, it's not a design requirement, and current submarine tech is such that there is not any significant ASW kit available in the RAN anyway.

The first, a multi-role design:

I have doubts about six gun mounts and three torpedo carriages all on the centreline.

Note also the very high length to beam ratio...

Torpedo carriages would be 1 centerline between the midships AA gun and surface gun, both of which are raised mounts to account for the torpedo mount, and a pair on the sides abeam of the aft superstructure/superfiring mount.

When I'm bringing tonnage back up on a design after the range numbers have been fiddled, I have a bad habit of adding length.  I'll have to adjust to get the L/B back straight.
