Hey longtime no see!  I have a favor.  Looking for a spring sharp design but my skills are out of practice.

Need a improved L 20e α,  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L_20e_α-class_battleship  But the ship stretched for a 5th 420mm turret,  Protection same and engines updated to keep same 26 knot speed.

This is for a story I am writing

Michael

Good to see you again.

Where do you want that fifth turret?

Aft, nonsuperfiring.

So I'm taking an average of the 350 belt and the 250mm strake above it, or at least trying to, for the main belt.

Overall length and BC are guesswork but I tried to stick with what actual data I could use from the wikipedia article for the baseline L20 design.

Folks may alternately opt to sim with a short forecastle and then the casemates on the main deck but I thought my own layout made more sense, I dunno.

I think the Forward deck on that sim needs to be a little longer relative to the aft deck if you are going to sim the forcastle and forward deck with the same hight. Conways notes the outlines of L20A having "a fore-castle extending to the after superfiring barbette.". IMO that would put the Q turret of this follow on on the higher portion of the freeboard, not the lower.

Okay, so the foredeck is now 60% of length.

The sketches I'm seeing put the aft superfiring turret somewhere between A and B turret height-wise, so I'm not going to sweat that too much.

Since SS like the hull strength changes, I tweaked the speed and protection upward (it is, after all, an improvement on L20 and not a duplicate).

Looks good,  TY Rocky!

Hello Jef and Snip!  Not forgotten just busy.

Here is another crazy request.  Something a bit nutty.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Incomparable

Dont need a spring sharp of the above but something like it.

Twin 18" main guns L40s, 6 to 8 guns.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BL_18-inch_Mk_I_naval_gun
Triple 4" secondary
Armor 9-11"
860' max length
Highest speed, at least 32"

waves to Miketr !

Good to "See" you.
Would be better if you were wearing a Norse crown,
but hey we take what we can get.
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

Hey Snip, ty!

If we reduce the armor thickness to 9" how much more speed could we get?  This is a Fisher dream and speed = armor..

Hey Kaiser Kirk.  How is it going?  I wish I had free time to play but I dont :(.
