The same Parthian immigrant to Iberia unfortunately comes down with an illness, and while feverish attempts a large armored cruiser

Maybe Iberia should give this Partian immigrant citizenship and a lifetime supply of mind-altering substances

Oh he's probably an opium addled dreamer who doesn't believe in overly thick armor
Thick armor keeps the moonbeams out, man.

Is there any chance I could impinge upon your time and ask you to update this design with a few modifications incorporated? Namely the following:
*incorporate twin 350/45 guns (I believe I mistakenly asked for 350/50 guns)
*TDS sufficient to reflect recent lessons in torpedo warfare (I'm admittedly under-educated on TDS)
*replace 75mm tertiary with 90mm/50 deck mounts
*Misc weight: 250t, split between long range wireless, fire control, and 75t flagship facilities (remainder as spare)

Looking for a foreign station ship that can service and maintain up to 2,000t small boat (MTB shipping), carry small boats or submarines up to 500t (think of it as a recovery mechanism for damaged vessels), and has 4x155mm/50 QF deck and hoist mounts behind protection, with either 75mm or 90mm secondary armament, and torpedo protection.  Speed between 18 and 20kts, 14kt cruise.  Range 6,000.  Does not need to meet mercantile requirements.

Also looking for a late 1915 lay down destroyer design.  1,000t
Tech: 1908: triple TTs - max 12, displacement 1000t
2 triple torpedo tube mounts
multiple 90mm/50 QF deck mounts OR if you feel really daring, a single 155/50 QF deck and hoist forward plus 75mm/57mm QF secondaries.  Will have 1905 torpedo tech and 1908 Fire Control.  Should have a SR and LR radio set.

Iberia will offer a $0.5 reward for winning design in both categories.  Payable 1916/1.

Just to clarify, capable of transporting boats up to 500t in size, or capable of transporting up to 500t total of small (say <100t) boats?

QuoteLooking for a foreign station ship that can service and maintain up to 2,000t small boat (MTB shipping), carry small boats or submarines up to 500t (think of it as a recovery mechanism for damaged vessels), and has 4x155mm/50 QF deck and hoist mounts behind protection, with either 75mm or 90mm secondary armament, and torpedo protection.  Speed between 18 and 20kts, 14kt cruise.  Range 6,000.  Does not need to meet mercantile requirements.
Just to clarify, capable of transporting boats up to 500t in size, or capable of transporting up to 500t total of small (say <100t) boats?
I was thinking capacity of carrying 2 or more smaller boats up to 250t, for 500t total carrying capacity.  Not certain if extra equipment would be required to carry multiple smaller vessels (for example 20 or 40t MTBs or 125t submarines) versus carrying fewer but larger vessels.

Desertfox

In that case I need to redo the above ship as its only designed to handle up to 100t boats, since I based it on the Jingei class.

Based on a whaling ship, has a ramp in the back for up to 250t boats. Space for 2 x 250t, 4 x 100t, 8 x 40t or 12 x 20t. Cranes on side for up to 4 more 20/40t boats.

I'm inclined to think that the 10' raised forecastle would impair gunnery forward since the main gun is at 3.05 metres.

Trying to make me do conversions in my head...i see how it is lol

What if the forward mount was a raised mount?

Desertfox

That was a mistake on my part, moving the gun forward fixes the issue.

The Rock Doctor

I didn't even notice that part of it, Foxy.  The gun would get moved to the forward deck and be at +10', while the forecastle would be at +20' in front of it. Making it a superfiring mount wound erase the elevation issue.

Alternately, maybe drop the forecastle height by 2', have a short forward deck of the same height, and then a longer aft deck at +10'.  Might average out the seakeeping and hull strength the same.
