Adding 1000t light lets me get the belt up to 340mm and up the barbettes to 320mm.

See, that wasn't a huge price to pay to get me to shut up :)
...didn't work...
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

snip

But see now you have me wondering if I just build three of these instead of one alongside two LBS-16As
You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when solider lads march by
Sneak home and pray that you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

Oups...

Does this kind of cruiser need a 90mm upper belt ???

I'd call the thing a battleship at this point.  Battleship guns, battleship armor.  It has about as much to do with a cruiser as the 1941 Lexington did.
His Most Honorable Majesty,  Ali the 8th, Sultan of All Aztecs,  Eagle of the Sun, Jaguar of the Sun, Snake of the Sun, Seal of the Sun, Whale of the Sun, Defender of the Faith, Keeper of the Teachings of Allah most gracious and merciful.

Jefgte

I agree with Tac, this is a fast Battleship.

Looking a little smaller, the finalized design for the Ultra-Heavy Destroyer Leader criteria. Two ships planned. The first named Agincourt after the Francian city and site of famous battle during the Internal Wars in the 15th century. The second named Dertona, for the Aosta class cruiser of the same name lost at Ironclad Bay.

The Box is proof against splinters from up to 210mm guns and is intended as a anti-critical defense and vital capability retention rather than boyancy protection. While I finish the 1913 Torpedo tech needed to give this design the upgraded fish, I will be utilizing the free basic refit at 75% completion to make this upgrade.

Now matches the Audax's armor layout much better, which makes more sense if this is basically going to be taking a battleship role.

A little more fiddle, some adjustment to the beam lets me pack some more armor on without effect on speed.

Playing around with what can be done to get a battery of 8x410mm guns at around the same speed. For this battery I trade; half a knot of speed, a bit of seakeeping due to giving the hull a midbreak rather than a chopped quarterdeck, a heavy chunck of Steadiness, about 7000 flotation, and an additional 200t.

With how big the Large Armored Cruiser Fast Battleship designs are trending, I figured it was time to take a look at something slightly more manageable more geared to counter-raider rather than having counter-raider capabilities while still being a line of battle ship. Its a few years out as its missing basically every tech piece about it, but I wanted to fiddle with the concept.

I've been playing around with an alternative build plan that would see two LBS-16B's constructed to form a four-ship division at 24knts with the Audax class. This would give me three divisions of four ships each broken out by speed band (18knts: Triumphus & ETVIII, 21knts Invicta & Preventores, 24knts Audax & LBS-16B) This plan would see a updated Jeanne d'Arc design built starting in 1917 with the completion of Jeanne freeing up the slot in the build plan. This would push any fusion of the LAC and LBS types back to 1921 when the program would complete.

You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when solider lads march by
Sneak home and pray that you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

QuoteI've been playing around with an alternative build plan that would see two LBS-16B's constructed to form a four-ship division at 24knts with the Audax class.

Byzantium does not change the speed of its battle line, for the battleships of 1916 and 1917, still 21kts. Scout ships, 27kts.
