Fire Season

Howdy All,

My primary job is timber harvesting and forest management.
A subset of job is responding to wildfires.

Parts of California got very little rain this year.
The fires are already starting daily. Soon they will get big. 

I don't wind up doing the wildfire bit often, but it's averaged once a year.
I only wind up being sent on the really big fires, and then I wind up in basecamp.

I changed what I do on a fire, so I may not be sent at all this year.
but I still expect there will be a couple weeks this fall where I will just be gone.
Usually it's 1 week, sometimes 2 weeks.

I will try to stop and post if I'm assigned.

Otherwise I will be trying to run the game on schedule.

Well, so far 2020 has been tame...wait..no....

I posted this because my Unit had it's first fire go over 24hrs, about a month ahead of schedule.
Coming in from the woods they were dispatching helos, engines and crews that were coming available off other incidents and sending them to the Vineyard incident.

We've already had some 1,000 acre fires down South.
It will be a toasty one.
I still may just wind up squirreled away in the forest, or wind up with another 25day shift in the GIS trailer like the MendoComplex.
We'll see.
