5,000t - 50,00t of fleet support

***

Comprehensive refurbishment of the Kobayashi Marus. They are close to hitting 25 years old but as auxiliaries don't need new replacements.

Main changes are brand new engines pushing speed up to 17kts, cruising speed to 14kts, and range to a massive 17,000nm (primarily to refuel fleet ships). Defensive armament has also been seriously updated, as well as the misc weight stuff, including adding four 40t boats, improved accommodations, and a sensor suite.

Cost per ship is $1.1 and 0.27 BP

I have a Jingei class aux with no job just sitting around. So the Jingei (sub transport version) will be refitted with a zeppelin mooring mast and supplies, get a defensive armament upgrade, and a rearrangement of her boat transport capabilities. She carries 6 boats (4x40t and 2x20t) to provide security at the anchorage and assist with the mooring process.

Another auxiliary, a dedicated multi-purpose fast dispatch boat. Good range at a good cruising speed (5500nm @14kts) and space for diplomatic personnel and boats for use in areas without suitable harbors. For fleet use it can serve as a rescue boat and emergency flagship, and it has an enhanced electronics kit allowing it to be used for intelligence gathering. It is not actually fitted with weapons, but has been designed to mount a limited defensive armament suite (25mm auto cannons and short range electric torpedoes).
