Rework of the Iberian Santisima Trinidad class of dreadnoughts. Reduced speed and range to more realistic levels, added a 12" turret (Dreadnought layout), swapped the 152 mm guns for 140 mm guns and reduced their number, moved the 75mm from casemates to deck mounts, removed the torpedo bulkhead and increased armor. Thoughts? Comments?

Rework of the Almirante Oquendo class of battlecruisers. Biggest change was going from 5 to 4 turrets ala HMS Invincible. Also swapping the 152 mm for 140 mm secondaries, removing the torpedo bulkhead, adding 1/2 a knot, and some minor changes to the armor layout. She comes out to about 1,700 tons cheaper.

What are you doing with the 1.7 BP (x4 ships) economised ?

140mm & 152mm are very similar...

I'm thinking a few colonial gunboat/monitors with 160 mm or 200 mm guns.

Rework of the Iberian Santisima Trinidad class of dreadnoughts. Thoughts? Comments?

Reasonable enough, same comments on belt height and deck thickness/type I made on the other page.
I'm on the opinion the misc weight for FC and LR radio should be above or at least on deck, not below. Has a mild effect.
Overall too much miscellaneous weight, why would they allocate 3.5% of the whole ship to that? You could add 20% to your armor belt.

as for Almirante Oquendo, really a nice vessel, but at 4,000 tons difference, I don't see why they would bother with the Large Light Cruiser design, instead of improving on Oquendo.

As an aside, part of of the prebuild that is interesting is seeing how each players 'blind' builds stack up against others. I rather liked my Knight class armored cruisers. Once I looked at the Byzantine vessels, it seemed like the Parthians had been building a step behind, but at least were in 'spitting range'.  However those designs and the Norse Selkershire are outclassed by the Oquendo...which is just a tad slower.

This is Olekit's original Misc weight breakdown, which I kept. Shouldn't be too big of a problem to move the FC and wireless weight up and dump some of the "reserve".

Miscellaneous weights: 425 tons
----18t 12x450mm
----2t Additional Torpedo handling equipment
----5t Additional Pumps
----30t Flag Facilities
----20t Admiralty Accommodations
----25t Long-Range Wireless
----178t Fire control
----459t Construction Reserve

The Infanta Maria Teresa BCs with 6x13.4" would be the true follow-on to the Oquendo class, just like the Splendid cats followed the Invincibles. The Large Light Cruisers would be one offs that wouldn't actually fit with the rest of the fleet.

Better? Less deck armor, more belt armor, fixed misc weight distribution, more shells (to get to 19k tons light) .

Looks fairly formidable to me.
I use both shells and range to adjust my displacement :)
Though I keep working towards range standards which seem to keep getting bigger.

For example 6500nm at 10 knots is 650 hours, or 27 days. A little over the 3 weeks/ 21 days which is my goal.
Then I add 10%.
However, my efforts to add a 'combat sprint' to the equation- 12-24 hours at full or near full speed
has proven to massively inflate my fuel needs.
Then I have the self imposed caps of 17-19% fuel load, and 120% hull space for protective decks....
I complicate my own life...

Rework of the Vizcaya class. Main change was replacing the 152 mm armament with a mix of 160 mm and 140 mm guns.

The main armament was an attempt to use turrets on a cruiser; however, technical issues would plague these two ships throughout their lifetime. The next cruiser class would revert to a uniform 140 mm armament in single mounts.

Vizcaya, Iberia Cruiser laid down 1905
