The Rock Doctor

There are some.

Armored Cruiser:  Krazownik Pancerny (KP)
Battlecruiser/Cruiser of the Line:  Krazownik Liniowy (KL)

I'll use the different acronyms for the two ship types but the numbering will be continuous.

#1
Dragon Class

Dragon, KP-3, laid down 1893, preserved as museum ship 1922
Pancernik, KP-4, laid down 1893, scrapped 1918
Ulan, KP-5, laid down 1894, scrapped 1919

Early armored cruisers for scouting and, later, trade protection.  Dragon was taken in hand in 1917 to function as a test-bed for naval aviation, receiving a short flying-off deck over the forward turret and stowage for a floatplane aft.  She won't outlive her sisters by very long, though.

#3
Grenadjär Class

Fast and capable when laid down, they were rendered obsolete within a few years by early turbine armored cruisers but still valued on account of their operating range, which was huge by Union standards of the time.

A 1924 refurbishment will allow them to carry on with trade defence duties for a few more years.

Grenadjär, KP-8, laid down 1902, scrapped 1931

The Rock Doctor

#5
Szermierz Class

After going back and forth with the Sejm a few times, the Union Navy has secured funding for a pair of "armored cruisers" for 1916-17.

This began the popularization of the use of "air quotes" with the Union Navy, for there was not a lot of doubt internally - or even in the Sejm, for that matter - that these are more along the lines of the "unified large combat vessel" or "fast battleship" that some academics have been muttering about since turbines first became practical.

The class borrows heavily from the recent Angstrom class battleships, in no small part because the Union has not yet developed a larger weapon than the triple 35cm/45cal gun.  The secondary has been moved from casemates to twin mountings on the main deck, which will ensure they're useful in all manner of sea conditions.  The tertiary battery is limited to four mountings, which will also serve as saluting and starshell-firing mounts as required; there is less of a panic about torpedo-craft swarming these vessels at top speed with their expected seakeeping characteristics.

Considerable effort and expense has been made to increase the survivability of the class, whether through a higher belt, incorporation of bulges, or simply more pumps and more extensive fire mains.

The lead unit, Szermierz, is being laid down in 1/16.  An as-yet unnamed sister is on order for 1/17.  They will replace the Dragon-class armored cruisers.

#6
Czarownik Class

Like the First and Second Fleet Replenishment Programs before it, the Third Fleet Replenishment Program envisions construction of a monitor, two armored cruisers, and four battleships.  The program started with the laying down of the monitor Attakulla in 1918 and now, logically, it's time to start the first capital ship.

Somewhat contrary to expectations, it's going to be the armored cruisers next, not the battleships.  The Navy's battleline is...not in a bad place.  The four Angstrom class ships are new and shiny, the Wrogi and Neiugiety classes are adequate for a while yet.  On the other hand, the armored cruiser complement consists of the two Lucznik class and a bunch of VTE-driven relics.  Yes, the two Szermierz class ships are finishing up, but overall there's a perception that the AC arm is weaker than the BB arm.

Plus the media/political fixation on armored cruisers that began after the Battle of Dakar still hasn't quite eased off.

The Norse are big on battlecruisers, it seems, as are the Romans.  Granted, the Romans have somewhat deeper pockets for theirs than the Union does.

*glances at Empress Amelia*

Lesser powers like the Mayans and Confederation are still (presumably) engaging in big cruisers as well, of course.

The starting point for the Type 1919 cruiser-of-the-line was the still-building Szermierz class, but a decision was made to go with twin 400mm and, when questions were asked about effective shooting with six barrels, four of those turrets rather than three.  The ship is incrementally better protected and faster than Szermierz, and has much longer legs, therefore about 20% heavier.  It's the first use of inclined armor in a Union capital ship (and maybe I've even got the +/- thing right, I'm not sure).

Rajtar Class Armored Cruiser

This is very much viewed as a cruiser-killer/trade defence/scouting platform, with no delusions about standing in the line of battle.

The armament is a very new 250/50 cal gun with heavy shells.  A conventional secondary and lighter battery is installed, but I might have early DP mounts in service before she's completed and there's a possibility I'll refit in a 130DP + 50mm battery in exchange for the current 130LA + 100AA arrangement.

Armor is intended to protect against cruiser gunfire.  I contemplated omitting the TDS but that only saved about 5% of total cost and didn't seem to be worth the meager savings.

The high seakeeping is mostly incidental, but it isn't a bad thing if the ship can ride out Atlantic weather conditions.
