Representing the adoption of the conventional twin main battery turrets, the Emperor Hadrian IX class provides a major increase in firepower over the Gloriosum class. Like the Gloriosum, the Hadrian IX's maintain some vestiges of their coastal defense ship heritage. They also have trouble maintaining 18knts in all but ideal conditions.

Who cheer when solider lads march by
Sneak home and pray that you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.
