QuoteSince you nerds didn't like my single thread idea
I would think that if all ships were to be dumped into one thread, it would become rather messy as you would have many different ships of many different navies in that thread making it much easier to miss certain designs and potential simming errors.

Looking at the BB designs, the Romans like bigger gun and tend to go for lighter CT armor compared to the belt and turret armor.

Only issue I see is that with the cruiser, you gave it the name "Scout D" probably because it is going to be a scout cruiser. I think it would not be a bad idea to have a little bit of miscellaneous weights on the ship for the wireless radios so it can report its findings to the main fleet before it is going to be shot full of holes as that rather thin armor isn't going to do very much.

Kaiser Kirk

On the battleships, in my opinion the beam is too narrow.

I say this because Orion, Iron Duke, Erin, Lion, Tiger, Courbet, Provence had similar main gun batteries, and the lowest beam was Provence at 26.9m, the rest were all 27+.

Now many of these did have torpedo bulkheads, and yours does not, but the bulkheads they had were discontinous and protected the magizines / and or machinery- basically flash protection- not the main battery, so a 27+m beam should be valid for reference purposes.

BC :  From what I recall of various lists of historic BCs, block coefficient is a fair bit high on Trajan VIII and remarkably high on Dreadnaught A-it's apparently an armored tanker.

Gun layout : You have "evenly spread" instead of fore/aft, do you intend an A B  Q    X  layout?  Or are you trying for perhaps HMS Tiger ?

On belt armor, I guess it's a matter of taste. Your layout isn't far off of something like USS Texas, but very tall. I prefer either thicker belt or a protected deck behind the belt, like the European ships :)
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

With beam, there are of course vessels like Dreadnought (82 ft), Invincible class (78.5 feet), Bellerophon class (82.5 feet) and St. Vincent class (84 feet) which had the twin 12" turrets side by side on those beams... well... Invincible's are almost side by side... and those side by side guns are located where the ship is pretty much widest.

Another thing might be that the higher BC could be a bit to compensate that, meaning that where A and Y turrets are on the Trajan VIII, the hull could be just as wide as on the vessels you mentioned (though that is just speculation).

Recoil (0.80) on the 18500t BB is high.
I think that the hull is too small (high BC) to fire a full boardside without stress.
The life of the BB could be shorted by mechanical strain.

IMO, it's better to begin SS early  - 1890 & finish in 1909 to have a personnal styl & developpement year after year.

=> I think that the older ships used in our restart were LD in 1890.
=> It could be interresting to have the global tonnage allocated for each coutry for the restart to make a coherent & regular building plan.

To hit on a couple things.

The lower beam high BC is something I intended to function as Walter said. Since those are extremes I will try pushing the beam out a bit and see what happens.

Think Gangut style.

Always been a fan of more coverage myself.

What can I say, big booms best booms.

I cant say Im at a happy place with that design, so ya it needs some editing.

While its on the high side, I dont think its so high as to cause lots of great strain.

QuoteIMO, it's better to begin SS early  - 1890 & finish in 1909 to have a personnal style & developpement year after year

Im taking a slightly different approach. There are a few "flavor" bits I want to hit at various points in time. (eg, AQY with 340mm guns) Once I get those nailed down, I can branch out from there to show how it is I got there and where I went from it.

Quote=> It could be interresting to have the global tonnage allocated for each coutry for the restart to make a coherent & regular building plan.
I thought I had posted that document, turns out I had not. its now up.

This is intended to be the oldest capital ship the IRN maintains on the lists in 1910. Representing the first full departure from pure coastal defense ships, this class is designed to be an bit strange. Showing here is the preference for larger guns than contemporaries.
