Greetings folks,

I originally put this map in my thread.
It's my best understanding of who has what claims currently staked and in some manner occupied.
You'll see the H2 1904 West African Italian effort are mainly tiny boxes on the coast - that's where I've landed.

Anyhow, I may well have missed stuff, so this certainly unofficial.
Note that there are several independent - or nominally so - African states. Notably I added the Warsangali Sultanate, and Zanzibar is still depicted, though the posted Treaties give Italy a say in their actions, they are definitely sovereign- and to underscore that the Italians increased their armies.

Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

Thanks - I'll amend the Ottoman territories a bit and repost.

Walter

Just turn everything on the map to Chinese Yellow. We'll be coming soon. :D

Note that the Ottomans took over the rest of Libya a couple years ago.

This illustrates what the Ottomans control (green) and claim (grey, but green outlines) in the Sudan/Uganda area.

With the French expeditions from Alger, Oran & Dakar, France claim december 1904 north-west parts of Africa

Claiming land and actually controlling land are two different things.

From my perspective, controlling the best harbors with troops on the ground does give the Spanish a great advantage.
Most of that region is desolate, with value tied to water and access.
If it comes to asserting influence, the Spanish have at least staked a hold on the access- and many of the limited waterways, and their overland supply lines won't be more than about 250nm. The French have an overland supply line between Dakar and Algeria that's ~1200nm long.

As for the various "claims" of parties ...are those stated in official correspondence & Maps- like the Chinese 7 dashed Line, or just announcing intentions ?

Gonna use a bit of creativity with that. :)

As for the Spain, I have an approval of moderators for my plans...official correspondence, etc...

Interesting  color on Madagascar.

Interesting approach to colonization = interesting color.

Just imagine if you'd sent in a rag-tag group of mercenaries instead...
