These are exhausted columns arriving in Nouakchott.
The expedition made 42 dead and 25 wounded on 600 Legionnaires departure.
35 camels died.
Numerous cooperation agreements have been signed with the Berbers chiefs.
The cruisers Carmélia and Cérès bring their assistance and reassurances to the legionaries.
10 rest days are granted before departing to Dakar.

French troops left Nouakchott. they are going to south.
Cruisers Camélia & Cérès follow them.

Troop transport Ville d'Alger with 500 soldiers & materials left Dakar.
She is eccorted by 2 x1250t aviso - AT1 & AT2
They are going south...

The French ships arrive near the city of Ada.
Aviso AT1 enter the river Volta estuary.
French emissaries ask to be receive by the King of the Ewe tribute.

The emissaries were received by the King.
They offer to the King a superb sword by way of France friendship and request to buy land to set up a trading post, an hospital and a garrison.
They also express request of France to explore the interior of the territory.
The king assembled his council and provided its response to the next.

The next day, the King of the Board expressed the answer.
"Great Lord allows the installation of a trading post on his land but refuses to install a garrison soldier.
However, his son being sick, if the French doctor treats his son, he will grant the exploration of interior territories"

King's son's health improves.
The King authorizes the landing of French troops for the exploration of the territories of 'inward. He will provide guides.
He authorizes too a camp construction.

200 soldiers with 98 holders & guides left Ada.

I'm kinda expecting the Black Knight of Port Said to stand at the entrance to the Suez Canal, shouting "None shall pass!" at the French...

... and then watch them sail by because he cannot reach the ships from the shore. ;D
