there is this line in a Book/TV Show/Movie I once Read/Saw (I realy think it was from a book but I could be wrong).  It goes somthing like this
Person 1:  "so how would you kill Him"
Person 2: "From Behind, with a Rifle/Bow (cant remember which) from 1000 yards away"

anyone remember anything like that...

Pretty sure that's Dresden files, on how the ubermerc would take out a wizard.
I.e. from very long range with something very big bore, so he'd never know it was coming.
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

Well it pops up in one book, and then later Harry Dresden gets dead when someone shoots him with a rifle at long range while he's on a boat. Then he wanders around as a spirit trying to solve his own murder.  I read a bunch of the series last year.

oh I own them all, always had good intentions of reading the whole series... somehow I always end up getting side tracked.

Yes Kincaid the Scion/Assassin once informs Dresden that if he was ever going to fight Dresden it would involve shooting him from supprise from far away.   This is to avoid any possibility of Dresdens Death Curse.

There are plenty of other Books/Movies which reference shooting from a great distance.

That's why I'm fascinated by the design and construction of naval capital ships from the 1880s-1940s.  Though I'm a bit of a hybrid, most nerd/geek stereotypes don't include 4x4 trucks, atvs, marking paint, flagging, pulaskis, chainsaws, drip torches, caulk boots, harvest plans and the timber industry :)  Ok, technically I'm no longer "industry", but "state" :)

yeah, yeah, yeah, and I know way too much about the Delaware Winged T, 19th century Finnish coastal defense installations, Star Fleet, HD video transmission, TCP, model railroading, recovering dead windows phones (ugh), the art of large scale systems configuration and the collected works of both John Scalzi and Neal Stephenson. What's your point?

Best line in the book IMHO is in the frekin Prolouge (granted I just bought it 10 minutes ago and im only 2 chapters in)

"Sometimes, son, you have to help the heroes along." or somthing like that (I could go back and look but im fealing kinda lazy)

ok just finished Steel Heart and all I can say is HOLY SHIT, I thought I had it figured out... till like the last 6 pages, then HOLY MIND FRAK BATMAN.
