Greetings all,

Sorry for the sudden absence. I was released from the Lodge fire this weekend, and have been playing catch up with sleep and life.
I hope to get caught up here and start posting news by at least Thursday, if not sooner.

Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

Glad to hear you are safe.
You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when solider lads march by
Sneak home and pray that you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

I never even saw flames, wound up working evening shift 11am-3am doing GIS maps and then a day at the end on fireline rehabilitation. Saw char. Most dangerous part was probably driving home each morning, but it was only 1:15 away, so worth it. Came up just shy of 200 hours of work in 14 days.

There were 8 guys burned when a crown fire ripped over part of the line, but they were all 1st & 2nd degree and released the next day. My coworker was being a forward obsv up there, and worried he'd get cut off, as it was there was fire on both sides of his road out.
