Yeah, I had time to fine tune. My thinking on the 1x152mm was mostly that it's period appropriate. I think the theory would be that it would have use in a chase. At any rate, I've dispensed with it.

I'd like them to be faster too, but to get 20 knots out of an 1895 design, with the same armor, armament, and range, I'm up around 3600t. I consider that a poor compromise. I might consider a bigger ship for the 1898 program.

Russian battleships laid down before 1900 do no more than 16ish knots. Anyone build anything faster before you can use VTE and year 1900 engines?

Wait, why does it say only simple reciprocating for the 1890 tech? It was suppose to be VTEs as well IIRC.

EDIT: Think I found out what happened. The original proposal I made here added the 1890 tech to serve as our baseline. I moved VTEs to that tech from the N3 1900 one and added an explicit reference to Simple Reciprocating engines in case anyone wanted to use them. My guess is that when Logi was copying over the trees, he added the 1890 tech and the Simple Reciprocating to the tree, but did not move the VTEs down there to. Let us touch base and get this resolved.

1895 cruisers with 18kts => ok
1898 cruisers with 8x120 & 21kts will be probably more useful in the next years...
