Take care and get well soon! Fortunately I'm too far away to invade!

Take care. I watch over your southern border.

Out for now, but circumstance may put me back in, so please limit yourselves to surgical commando strikes and cavalry raids.

Kaiser Kirk

Get better soon Rocky.

As for me, just checking in to update folks.

I have worked 38 of the past 44 days,
I am currently working 12-14 hours/day,
I have just transitioned from working 4pm-6am to working 10am-11/12pm.

There is a chance they will let me off on Sunday the 27th,
But there is also a chance they will wait until Saturday the 3rd.

I will be able to answer PMs/Catchup on posts/Post Parthias HY1,1914 turn after that.

As such I will look to run HY 2, 1914 Expansion on Friday 9th-Sunday 11th. With results Monday the 12th.

I now return you to our regularly scheduled programming...
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

Alright.

I'm hopped up on meds and vitamins.  Assuming COVID doesn't bugger something up somehow, I'm going to be in hospital in about three weeks (date TBD) for a brief procedure that will see a misbehaving bit of my heart zapped.

I am now beginning treatment for severe diabetes, which will take months to stabilize and is obviously something I'll be dealing with for the rest of my life.

There is a follow-up x-ray to check a possible shadow in my lungs.  Doctors think it's nothing and I sure as hell hope they're right.

It's been a hell of a week.

I'm totally cool with Kirk taking his time as he needs it.  No rush from me.

The Rock Doctor

I do owe a couple of you PMs, so will try to catch up on that.

A pacemaker and diabetes.  Not something I envy.

But alas, that's something we have to  anticitipate when age is getting on.

Some of us are talking  Nverse for 14 years now.

The Rock Doctor

No pacemaker at this time - just a little device sent in to burn a bit of tissue and then pulled back out again,  Hopefully that's all it needs.

Diabetes is going to be an adjustment for sure.  Easier now while we're both reeling from it, but there will be temptations to cheat on the diet, I have no doubt.

Jefgte

This is not good news ...   :(
Take care of yourself. I look forward to seeing you again.
I promise, I will not attack Vilnius colonies and the southern border.

Good news is there are a lot more diabetic friendly foods in the market than there used to be.  You can eat healthy and still enjoy what you are eating.

I'm starting a new job on Monday, so no hurry from me either.

Update :

This is my 2nd day of R&R.
Mostly catching up on sleep and bills.
I return to the GIS trailer on Weds.

I am tentatively scheduled for 2 days off this weekend, then work 21 straight days as fire support.
Hopefully those will only be 10-12 hour days, not the current 13-14hrs days.
However I believe those days will mostly be from my normal office, which is a 16minute round trip drive, not 2.75 hours.
That will give me a little free time to process things.

So I will prep for expansion this weekend,
and try to run it the 9th-11th, Results the 12th...to 14th...ish...

After being assigned to the Oak fire on Sept 7th at 1600hrs
I am off the August Complex as of October 11th at 1600hrs.
...and reported for regular work at 700hrs on October 12th.

The swap from night shift to day shift is always rough.
I will assay to answer PMs on the evening of 10/13.

Yep Night Shift to Day Shift stinks.
Suddenly getting up 4+ hours earlier does not work well for me.

Please note :
This year's 40 days on fires, and 55 'On Duty', are aberrations.
Most years it's a week here, a week there.

But... back to PM and prepping for Expansion.
I think I have a couple hours before my brain turns off tonight...
