Unfortunately that ship is not permissible under the rules. What we have (tentatively) agreed on is that techs that would be researched between 1890 and the start of the sim become available 3 years after the listed date, which is the amount of time it would take to research the tech if we were gaming the turns. Due to the inclusion of the turreted intermediary guns (both 274mm and 164mm) this ship would not be allowed until 1894 at the earliest. Capital ships in the 1890-1894 era need to conform to the following: Main guns in twin turrets, secondaries in casemate. If you wish to propose a modification to the rules, please do so in the tech thread.

On the Valmy did you mean for the last to have simple reciprocating steam engines? Seems like that would add to the ship's capabilities if they became VTEs. I would note that she and her sisters would still be under construction at the start of the sim. As compensation, with that laydown you would be able to use 1900 engines. [Note: Tolbiac needs to be corrected to 1890 engines] Also, that 240mm/45 is something we might have to talk about. Im not opposed to it out of hand, its just supper close on the legality. More then willing to come up with a way this can be built.

This is unrelated but Jefgte, do you intend to play France? I ask because you indicated a desire to play Germany previous but is now simming French ships.

Finaly, I prefer France.

I have started a new plan - 1890-1899
For the moment, that give 168 ships for 532 000t (540 000t max)

Proportions:
1BB - 2AC - 4CP - 6AT - 8TB

BB => 10000 to 13000t
AC => 7000 to 10000t
CP => 4000t
AT => 2000t
TB => 250 to 400t

168?
... maybe I should be a little bit less modest with my numbers and be more aggressive...

You need to check your engine years. If your laydown is pre 1898, the engine year should be 1890. If 1898 or 99, you can use 1900 engines.

Also, my apologies for not catching this before you redid things for the engine year, we are going to be using misc weight to account for torps as opposed to the built-in SS3 bits. There are some rather glaring flaws with that bit of the program, so the misc weight is the chosen option.
