Foreign relations as of late 1904 (some parts are no longer relevant)

It might due for us to figure out how various counties interact with each other in global terms. Some of use have a section in our sections on this topic (I don't think I do), but connecting the dots seems to be something that migh need to be done so we can figure out why we have certain friendships and trades, and why others exist but prove to be problematice with others that countries are friendly with.


Also listed here of in another thread could be listed enemies, or disliked nations without having to be actual enemies.


Rohan does not have any alliances outside its own borders at present aside from the Haven of the Peoples.

Rohan has known trade relation with the Eastern Kingdom, Mesoamerican Republic (mainly to keep them from returning to the Eye), Confederate States of America, United Kingdom of America, California, (un-)United States of New Switzerland and Australia, DKB, Russia, and Austria.

Rohan is known to be friendly with the Confederate States of America, California, Mesoamerican Republic, Austria, DKB, Russia, and generally friendly with the New Swiss, though recent events have made Rohan question the Swiss action on more than one occassion.

Rohan has friendly if sometime tense relations with France, the United Kingdom of America, and the Eastern Kingdom.

Rohan has respectful relations with Gran Columbia, the Neatherlands, and the Middle Kingdom.

Rohan does not have any know relations with most of the rest of the World.

Rohan is enemies of the Followers of the Eye and their former stronghold country, the Anahuac Empire.

Rohan has tense relations with the ACM due to their return of Agrival Mars to power. Related to this is the price on Mr. Mar's head.

Rohan has a dislike of the former Spanish Empire for wrongs done in the past.

Rohan's relation to the Island Commonwealth was never explored, so it is assumed to be neutral.

Rohan's relations with the reclussive "Half-elves" has not been explored much. It is assumed to be respectful, but a lack of contact means less relations...so neutral to commercial rival is the only things I can come up with.

Did I miss anyone?....anyone that wasn't an Islamic Empire, as Rohan has not known relations with the central parts of the Old World...too far away from most aside from some Westron commercial traffic, rare military missions, and the Fellowship of the Nine that map the world every so often.

Austria: Neutral. The ties of the homeland are still strong to balance the heavy-handedness and arrogance Austria deals with elective republics
Baltic States: cool, due to the socialist sympathies
France: warming up
Aragon: cool

Portugal: Icy but thawing. Portuguese expats started to exert influence at home
Italy: neutral, warming. Italy took over the role of Portugal as the NPC middleman in several deals

Netherlands: neutral to warm, due to historical ties

ACM: warm. Fellow republic, trade ties and deals with a the world's most wanted person

NS: Neutral. USNS is illegitimate, however they try to stretch the word. Not being able to deliver submarines was a problem too. Still, a republic.

UKA: Neutral. UKA's reluctance to answer diplomatic messages won't help it.

FRANCE
For France, Minister Capet has an agenda, what was being ruined by Premier Palpaté.

But the current diplomatic standards.

The Netherlands, still friendly, even with the latest escapades. Being neighbors helps a lot.

The Habsburgers, relations getting better by the day. The help in Brazil is being very well recieved in the Diplo-political circles.

The Essalieyan Empire. Friendly, trade partners.

Spain, whatever side. Very strained. Fortunatly that Ligne DeCreme is advancing at a frantic pace. (acces to the Suez Canal denied)

Portugal, friendly, being supported in several ways.

The Baltics. Being watched closely, no contact. (Suez Canal acces denied)

Bavaria, all peachy and fine. Open borders, free trade, and the route to Russia with the Moskou/Paris railroad. (Connects directly to the trans Siberian railroad)

Russia, friendly, Treaty Of Versailles partner, Great Canal treaty partner, but cooling due the introspective Tsar and the ties to the Habsburgers.

Italy, neutral.

The Ottomans, neutral. Next to no contacts.

The Caliphate, Very strained, Suez Canal Pact is history.

Excellent. De facto ally, fellow Germans.

Middle Kingdom
Very Good to Excellent. Some policies give some ministers the heebie-jeebies but the Great Dragon is not to be angered. Excellent trade partner via Hankow.

Rohan
Very Good. Felt by the DKB to be the most honourable of the American states; while Rohirrim policies forbid an alliance under-the-table help is sometimes exchanged.

Russia
Good to Very Good. Russo-French relations are a sticking point but the Habsburg tide raised the Romanov boat.

Persian Empire
Good.

Siam
Good. Slightly tarnished by association with the Swiss.

Spain (Carlist)
Good. Again, buoyed by their ties with the Austrians.

African Confederation
Good. Abyssinia alone would be better but they suffer from their political union with the Nigerians.

Good. Emperor Thrawn bears close watching, however.

Good. Best relations with any of the "Swiss breakaway states".

Neutral. Chaotic Dutch political course has Prussians scratching heads.

Fair. The Kuwaiti hatchet might have been buried, but the Great Game continues.

Fair. Machivellan political intrigue scuppered the one-time alliance, and NS policies have always raised eyebrows. Recent revanchist actions raise further questions.

Declining. French ties were always a concern but there were high hopes. Then along came an Agrival...

Cool. French puppet, lands still claimed (albiet unactively) as Hohenzollern crown territory.

Cool, turbulent. Palpate AWOL, but is Capet any better?

Sultanate of Yemen, Sultanate of Oman, United Arab Emirates
Cool. DKB covets southern gate of Hormuz, but wishes to be seen as honourable following the Omani debacle a few years ago.

Cool to chilly. Treatment of Zulus; disease; General Principles.

New Switzerland (PDR of S)
Chilly. Tarred as socialists and Agrivalians.

Caliphate of Cairo
Chilly. Heathens, backstabbers, but not worth the effort to topple as they're doing a fine job of it themselves, thank you.

Chilly. They kicked the Kaiser out of Europe and we're not speaking to them until they grovel to bring him back.

AFAIK, the CSA can be assumed to be "Good to Very Good" with Rohan and the UKA, "Cool" with EK, "Icy" with IC, and "Neutral" with everyone else.

I can speak to only to a few player nations from the Gran Colombian view in 1904; later events will modify this, of course.

-Rohan:   Fair.  Moral, upright neighbours can be useful so long as they don't take too much issue with the fact that GC is neither moral nor upright.

-CSA:  Fair to good.  Seems to share GC's interest in keeping a lid on the Caribbean, and their squashing of the Island Commonwealth in '01 was helpful.

-UKA:  Not so good, primarily on account of their alliance with France.

-France:  Poor, on account of the sabotage attempts against the canal, the establishment of El Dorado, the attacks on GC shipping, etc.  Gran Colombia will be most curious to see whether Paixhans is better or worse than Palpate.

-Austria:  Good.  Generally similar views on such things as communism and human-sacrifice cults.  Just don't tell them GC deals with Agrival Mars.

-DKB:  Fair to good.  Another enemy of the Anahuac.  The invitation to join in African land-grabbing, though declined, was appreciated.

-New Switzerland:  Depends on what their scheme of the day is.

-Middle Kingdom:  Fair.  Not a great deal of contact, but it has been respectful.  MK influence believed to have been helpful in resolving the Island Commonwealth issue.

-Orange:  Fair to good.  Some useful trading of information and data in the past.  Too bad they don't get along with the Hapsburgers and DKBers.

-Agrival Mars:  Good.  Not that we trumpet it or anything.

-Siam, Ottomans:  No significant contact.

-Peru, Netherlands, Spain:  Neutral with these nearby quiet (NPC) nations.  Expectations that the Spanish will be back for Cuba one day; Wariness over recent Dutch colony-shedding; Peruvian border is quiet, but we're keeping one eye on them.
