Anyone need some extra cash or have some surplus BP? Unfortunately Russian industry can't quite keep up with demand for warships. I might also be interested in purchasing warships built in foreign yards, but I'm not sure how that works in game.

The German Industry is always looking for export possibilities (but not in H1 anymore, thats over). Try to post your trade request in my marketplace. If that doesn't work I will have to play with the authorizations.

It can work in two different ways.
1. You can order (and pay) entire ships which will be build in foreign yards and with foreign technologies.
2. You can order parts of ships (guns, engines, etc.) which are delivered to you (as "labelled" BPs) and put inside a ship build in your own yard.

The US, in H1 1900, has 19 BPs (H2 1900 is looking like 21 BPs right now) that it's willing to sell, either as whole ships or as parts and materials.  Historically, Imperial Russia bought some ships from the US and materials for others.  Check the US Department of Commerce for amounts available and base rates, or send a PM.

Holy cow Kworld.... 19 BPs??

Yep, see my H1 report.  :)

The US didn't really see a serious threat on the horizon when I did it's H1 1900 budget, so there wasn't a perceived need to spend all my BPs.  H2 1900, there may be a threat, but I'm assuming the budget is fixed and President McKinley, in the midst of a re-election campaign and by no means certain there IS a real threat, isn't championing a supplemental military budget to order anything extra in H2.

Delta Force

KWorld, would it be possible to order a Pittsburgh class armored cruiser from you? I see that you use the same caliber and length guns that the Russian Navy uses, is a change to the shell size considered similar enough to not require import of armament? Russian shells are actually slightly lighter than their USN counterparts.

KWorld

#36
It could certainly be done.

The 10" ammunition would be basically compatible, both are bag guns, a lighter shell wouldn't cause problems for the US gun.  The Russian and American 6" guns would be more problematic, because while the shells wouldn't themselves be a problem, the propellant wouldn't be interchangeable at all (the Russian 6" is a quick-firing gun, firing 1-piece or cased separate loading rounds, while the American gun is a bag gun).  The 3" guns would probably be incompatible, due to differences in the shape of the case (assuming the Russian 3" here really is a 3" gun, the historical gun was a 75mm).

What you could do, if you're worried about logistics, is have any ships you order delivered without guns installed and install your own guns.  Or, have the Russian guns delivered to the US shipyard and installed there.  There'd be some extra fitting work, probably, to make everything match up, but it's certainly doable.

Let's see: USS Pittsburgh is 13298 tons light, so normal cost would be $13.298 and 13.298 BP.  Since you're probably wanting to pay with $ only, that goes to $26.596, throw in a bit extra for fitting Russian guns in the shipyard and you're looking at a cost of right around $ 27.  How many would you like (delivery guaranteed in 2 years upon prompt payment, contingent on delivery of the guns from Obhukov or Russian stocks)?

Here's what USS Pittsburgh looks like rearmed with Russian weapons.  The lighter-weight shells allowed an increase in bunkerage.

Looking at the above sim of Minsk, I have to adjust the pricetag a little: Minsk is 13194 tons light, so normal cost would be $13.194 and 13.194 BP.  Since you're probably wanting to pay with $ only, that goes to $26.388, throw in a bit extra for fitting Russian guns in the shipyard and you're looking at a cost of right around $ 26.5.  How many would you like (delivery guaranteed in 2 years upon prompt payment, contingent on delivery of the guns from Obhukov or Russian stocks)?

How difficult is it to change superstructures? Could the Russian cruiser have a single conning tower?

It's not difficult in SS, not installing an armored conning tower would have some effects in real life.
