HEH yes he would, I dont actualy intend to build it (even im not that crazy).  I actualy faild at my intended purpose (which was to get a "capital ship" to 25 knots...

Lord Fischer would be proud, I suppose.

Can I please introduce size caps which have to be developed before one can build such monstrosities? Although it is a bit late for that...

like I said no plans to even lay it down, I actualy got the Idea looking at Fishers Folies and realising that esentialy they were predreads... Lacking a gun larger than the 11" I went for 6 guns instead of the 4X15" used on them.

For Italy, it's not that odd: consider the historical Italia class, laid down in 1876 and displacing 15,000 tons at full load, with a top speed (for Lepanto) of 18.4.

Size caps really make no sense anyway: shipyards were more than capable of building bigger ships (see the great ocean liners of the day), navies simply didn't order them that big.

As to size caps, the building time on this monster atleast would have it almost out of date before I finished construction on it, unless I payed to build it fast (which I honestly cant afford to do) so IMHO there realy isnt a need.

@Jef im actualy trying to follow Cuniberti, or atleast his principals

@KWorld I actualy kind of skiped the Regina Margherita-class (what RMS Benedetto Brin was a part of) and went strait to a modified Regina Elena class.  Esentialy my first predreads just droped 4X8" and gaind 2X11" because I felt the 11/40 is superior to the 12/35 and I didnt feal that 2 main guns was suficient.  The class im curently building (giving away a secret here) has 4X11/45 and 8X9.2/45, im also building 2 6X9.2/45 ACs curently.

Just for Kicks and Giggles I decided to put together a realistic 20K ton ship... No I cant build it (I dont have an available slip big enough) but it is interesting to see that a ship like this is possible.  It is fast enough to run down most armored Cruisers and armored to resist 8" guns at engagement range.  Like I said I dont plan to build it (yet) but it came out good so I thought I would go ahead and post it.

hmmmm so a 25 knot PCish thing not realy to my tastes (I could only tinclad it) but interesting none the less just because it hits 25 knots on a reasonable hull size.  I still cant build it (due to lack of available slip) but it shows what can be done if one is willing.

OK back to serious ships (for awhile anyway)...  Baring any serious objections this is likley the final on my 1900 BB class, just to clear up any confusion about the layout (till I finish the picture) its like this
          P
X    C      A
          Q
P, Q, and X are 9.2" twins.  A and C are 11" twins.  Unlike my last atempt at this layout it actualy fits (once I figure out where all the 4.7" guns fit anyway there is room just got to locate them all).  As always opinions are welcome, I know the layouts a bit odd but it feads into what I want to do later.

Uhm......  Why would you mount the second 11" turret in C vs X position?  That means that if an enemy is directly astern of you, you can't use your main battery against them, only the secondaries.  The rest of the layout's a bit od, but allows you to save some tonnage at the cost of probably over-warming the magazine of the turret on the centerline.  Which, given that the Italians used cordite as a propellent at this time period, means you're likely to have unexpected magazine explosions in the future (but your designers and crews wouldn't know that).

Tanthalas

@KWorld True, in all aspects.  However my logic is evil and warped... This is the leadin for my "Dreadnaughts" and im of 2 minds on what way to go with them.  The Direction I pick will be dictated by which ever 1900 predread I build, so I can go Conventional and end up with somthing rather like South Carolina or Dreadnaught (which is YAWN since thats what everyone will be doing), or I can go with this layout and end up with a super predread rather like a G3 with a 9.2" secondary battery and 6X11/45 in an aB  d arangement... I kind of like the later idea even though OTL noone did it, it would be a "mistake" and add Humor and Variety.
