so hows this for a mixed main battery Battleship.  More or less its a minor redesign of the preceading class but in an odd sort of way I actualy find I like it... this is the last proposal for my 1900 BB class so its either this or the 21 knot AXY ship.  Opinions are definetly welcome.

yet another AC from me, largley intended as "Colonial" Cruisers/Convoy escorts.  Heavily armed but lightly armored, they could hypotheticly face a first class cruiser but honestly I wouldnt want to do it.  the benifit is they are a ton cheaper than the Gladius class so I can afford to build more of them (Gladius is only going to be a 2 ship class)

*edit to fix the guns*

There's a problem:

>       6 - 9.20" / 234 mm 45.0 cal guns - 380.00lbs / 172.37kg shells, 80 per gun
>     Breech loading guns in turret on barbette mounts, 1901 Model
>     3 x Single mounts on centreline ends, majority forward

Other than that, yeah, the light armor would make me leary of using it against another AC, even an older one with somewhat smaller guns.

Tanthalas

Good catch thanks man I totaly missed that (as carefully as I went over them to).  I have edited them to reflect actual layout (3 twins)

The other concern I'd have with this design is the relatively small number of secondary & tertiary guns: you've only got 4 120mm and 4 76mm casemate guns on each beam, and the 76's are subject to being washed out in a seaway.    Myself, I'd want more anti-TB firepower.

Nobody

I don't like this kind of ship, but I understand your reasoning. However, I think there's a problem with your armor. It looks like "all or nothing" which isn't allowed yet.

Tanthalas

@ nobody its not realy AoN, what I did (possibly wrongly but it worked) was use the main belt to sim the remander of the turtledeck on a PC and the side skirts that evolved on them in roughly this period.  now what im calling them might not be very accurate but meh I liked the name  ;)

@ Kworld IDK about the smaller guns, its roughly equivilant to what im using on my BBs and identical to what im using on my other ACs...

@ Kworld IDK about the smaller guns, its roughly equivilant to what im using on my BBs and identical to what im using on my other ACs...

If you're happy with it, I don't mind.  :)  If it were my ship, I'd have more secondaries and tertiaries, but that's me.

@ nobody its not realy AoN, what I did (possibly wrongly but it worked) was use the main belt to sim the remander of the turtledeck on a PC and the side skirts that evolved on them in roughly this period.  now what im calling them might not be very accurate but meh I liked the name  ;)
Oh, if it's a protected cruiser then that's fine. Avoiding this confusion is one of the reasons why I use the upper belt for PCs.

Jefgte

A break in the Italian choices;  Bigger & Faster.
An other choice, the quantity.
I note the tall hull, the low armor, the correct speed & armament.

IMO, the Block Coef is too light.
Built a more compact Cruiser, lenght to beam ratio; 8.85 is too much for a 21kts cruiser.

@Kworld I wouldn't use the term "happy".  "Happy" is definitely not the adverb, or whatever. As a matter of fact, if there's a direct opposite of "happy" that's about where I am. I'm not exactly bad with it, I guess, but I'm definitely sort of anti-happy. On the other hand, I'm in the med, and it fits, so I supose i'll live.

@Jef im comited to the 2 Gladius class units, since I already layed them down, as to the others im trying to come up with somthing to support them... I would realy like to use the 9.2s but if I am willing to use 8" guns it fixes all kinds of things that bother me (like the L-B ratio and the BC)... the truth is if im going to use 3 main gun turrets all centerline though more or less I need to be about as long as I am to have room for everything.

Armor is still rather Crapy but its faster, and I think Kworld atleast will like the smaller gun layout better  ;) as always opinions are welcome and its esentialy for the same job all the other light weights are for (Colonial deployment, Convoy protection, and to support its more capable big Sisters)

Is 1kts faster realy important ?

Too much 6" guns & not enough 9"2
------

I think that the qty minimum of gun in boardside in 1900 is "3"

so, 3x9"2+3x6" is a minimum serious boardside.
