hmmmm...everyone has a colony...*thinks*

Well, I really do not want the game economic numbers dependent on colonies at game start. So while from a roleplaying prespective it fits, from an economy standpoint it wont matter. I would like things to make some measure of sense on that front tho, so nations that are higher in the pecking order then OTL have a geopolitical reason for being so. Example: France is going to need some sort of moneymaker at the expense of the UK to make the economic numbers "make sense"

You might want to change that thinking, because if colonies don't matter to starting economies, then it won't matter to the UK if she's cut off from her empire.  Or it won't matter to France if she's cut off from her empire, etc.  Which doesn't make much sense.

The French already got an upgrade... I gave half of India to them.  I have also taken South Africa away from the British (although noone else owns it atm)

What I am trying to say (and did poorly) is that the exact placement of colonies matters little, the economics will be derived in one way for stating numbers. I do want the numbers to make sense given the land each controls, hence the need for the UK to loose some of her Empire so the gap between her and the other Major powers is not as great as OTL would suggest it should be.

Could we leave Australia open to exploration/colonization?  Pretend nobody managed to hit the continent and when they did they thought it was part of Antarctica?  I dont really know if that would make sense as a reason, probably not.

Tanthalas

Heh not so much I had all of Europe, Africa, and most of Asia filled in... I am less than pleased.

Doubtful we are circa 1900 people have definetly found Australia.  infact it and NZ are definetly part of the british empire.

If its a matter of OOC objection, then we can discuss it. If its IC, then we will have some fun in the South Pacific wont we ;)

Not really IC objection, although as Japan it would be in my favor to not have such a powerful British colony to my south.  That being said, there should be someplace still open for colonization.  Just my humble opinion.
And IC Japan would (hopefully) renew her historic friendship with the UK.  Thats not to say Japan isn't harboring a secret (or not so secret) desire for colonies in Indonesia....

Well, I still get to build your ships for the time being. Unless you deside to shop elsewhere

Probably not.  Although it would depend on the exact technology the IJN is looking for
