I see your runing into the same problem I did... TBs can only be up to 500 tons prestartup (750 after 1900), and these "Cruisers" cant be built to normal strength rules in Spring Sharp.  I ended up at 1200 tons light to make em work at all under the rules...

Jef, this ship needs to be 24knts and less then 500t light in order to be built to DD rules. She needs 1.00 composite otherwise.

The torpedoes are too large for 1897, you are only allowed up to 16 inch under the rules.

hmmm sh...

Like the Kleber cruiser.
Historical ships are not allowed.

I think there might be a typo in that part of the rules though, it certainly would produce a very heavy 16 inch torpedo.

Hmmmm.  My question on your SBB1 is on layout: by 1896, should France be transitioning away from the lozenge arrangement?  By retaining it, you're having to armor 4 barbettes & turrets vs 2 (larger, granted), and limiting broadside fire to 3 guns vs 4.

Also, I'd be concerned that you lack sufficient numbers of either 5.5" or 4" guns to accomplish their jobs: might be better to carry only one caliber here and get more barrels.

I agree with you.
Losenge disposition is for the fun, I love...
So I minimise the 3 guns boardside vs 4 guns because I choose first 240mm & I SS with 274 with a light reduction of the armor.
This class of Station BB is not really made to work vs BB but vs AC.

About 5'5 & 3'9 guns, the small size of the hull limit the potential of ship.
5'5 are vs cruisers & 3'9 & 1'85 vs TBs

6 SBB are in the plan.

They're not that small (lengthwise, anyway): they're nearly the size of all the BBs the USN has (even the Maines that are on order are only 28' longer).  The lozenge arrangement means you've got a turret in the way for best firing positions, granted.  But you could get some more secondaries on board if you mount some 5.5" guns in below-deck casemates, give up some range to get them aboard.  Above the main deck, though, you could fit some more 100mms if you wanted to, or drop down to 12 pounders to get more numbers.
