A non-historical USS Connecticut, essentially combining the historical ship's flush-deck hull design and 7" casemate guns with the armament layout of the preceding USS Maine.  Unlike the historical ship, this one doesn't carry any 8" guns, but it carries four more 7" guns than historical and moves them up to main deck height where they should be much more useful than they were.

Better vs TBs charge
I have always think that 8" + 7" guns was a stupid choice.  :o

The 8" + 7" was an odd choice, but there was a reason to it: the 8" guns could punch through the lighter armor on battleships, while the 7" would do more damage to anything it hit than a 6" or  5" shell would.  Alternative plans for the 1903 battleships had 2 triple 12" turrets on the ends with 6" secondaries, or 10" twins vs the 8" twins, etc.  Lot of different ideas in play after the Spanish American War.

Yeah there were, I have played around with some of them in the past, IMHO the most interesting was the tripple 12" turrets.  The potential changes to all folowing US ships, can make for a colerful conversation.

Tanthalas

I know your doing them per OTL but just one little nitpick issue, for startup using the existing tech rules the best gun we will be able to use (in 12" anyway) is a 12/35 (12/40 is not available till 1900).  Personaly im playing aorund with using 11/40s on my first ships (as the tech rules allow for that).

To win or lose it all!"

I actualy kind of like that 10" cruiser, Reminds me of the 6X10" colonial cruiser I built for Italia in N3 (which was so full of compromises it was scary but turned out to be a fairly efective warship)
"He either fears his fate too much,
Or his desserts are small,
Who dares not put it to the touch,
To win or lose it all!"
