Italia Class Battleships, Problematic

This has been bugging me for a while now, I just can't get the Italia to work in Springsharp. It is probably not possible as the ship is the oddball but I'm interested to hear if people have any suggestions for how she might work in springsharp.

As you can see, her hull can't stand the weight according to Springsharp. :/ I'm also quite unsure how well the central redoubt(2.4m above the freeboard) is represented by the just the raised barbettes.

- Reduce the qty of shells
150 is too much - 80 or 70 more réalist.

- Not all infos for the Belt...

- Reduce the range to 2000nm. enough for Mare Nostrum

- Reduce freeboard too

...

It does not have any armoured belt. At least not according to any of the sources I have seen.

I guess I could reduce both the range and freeboard but this was mostly an exercise to try and build a historical ship in SS2. If I change too much it turns into something quite different. Going to download SS3 and see how well it handles the Italia.

Cut the armour deck to 2''. SS thinks it's covering the whole deck, when in reality it's just covering the cital.

SS3 would work better for this sort of design, SS2 thinks this is a 45 cal gun when it's just a 26 cal gun.

Seems like it is very plausible to get this working in SS3. Trying it now, and I'm quite close to finished, might overshoot the composite strength by just a but some minor corrections are no problem. :)

This is one of the reasons that I am for SS3 for this sim- it is especially good at designing early 'raft-body' type ships because it allows you to build a more realistic armored citadel... and this will again become useful when All-or-Nothing armor comes back into play.

The intermediate designs might come up a bit light... but if everyone is able to abuse physics in a consistant manner, then the problem of inconsistancy is no longer a problem.
