Well, time to light this candle. Designs will each have there own post.

Some of my aims in these designs:

1. Provide a very strong defense force for my coastline

2. Do so on the smallest hulls possible

3. Provide a clear evolutionary path that will lead to the form that my pre-dreads and other later ships will take

One of the first thoughts of the founders of the Union Navy was to the defence of its many islands. The ship that would fill the role of defending these islands needed to have a shalow draft to enable it to get as close as posible to support troops on the ground. This was also to be the first ship in Russian history to cary all its ammement in turrets. The conserns about topweight plus the draft desided  the shape of the hull. Jokeingly refered to as a cheesebox on a raft, these ships will form the basis of the Navy's efforts at defending the numarus islands located in the north and the coastlines and harbors of the southern regions.
