Na, I think Gran Columbia has the most preferred "republic" status....unless Vienna considers us a monarchy.
It does. Vienna is waiting for the coming out ...

Can someone help me along with the biannual reports? That is kind of confusing for me since it is so complex.

I'd recommend Logi (who wrote the newest spreadsheet) or P3D (who wrote the original). Unfortunately, both are kinda 'semi-retired' players. Logi visits a lot, but school precludes him from playing. P3D is nominally Firanj, but isn't very active lately.

Howdy and welcome,

My advice is take your time and experiment. We have 3 major wars happening ATM(more than ever before; 8+ nations), the pace will be slow. You have plenty of time to develope Springsharp skills and practice sim reports. No need to rush at all. Take an inventory of your current ships and what not, and try to think longterm.

You have some big feet to follow. Carthaginian had some very economic designs to stretch every ton as far as possible. Then Guiness designed some of the best Vessels in the game. Think through the 'whys' of each new design and compare it to the previous ones. Perhaps start your new Springsharps using all the data from the last ones, then slightly modify. New administrations have new goals but dont try to change everything so much that everything else is obsolete.

BTW, Russia and the CSA have no real interactions, quite a while ago there was a treaty of some sort but it has expired.

I have a couple of different spread sheets I am or was using.   I Like Logi's with some modifications to well make sense in some cases.   And there are some problems with some calculations.

The question is just how familiar are you with Excel or Openoffices version of the same.   Because with a nation as large as the CSA you are in for Grand Accountancy.

Also if you IM I am ctwaterman@roadrunner.com

Oh...

Welcome from the United Norman Kingdoms we are your Northern Neighbors and we have had a long peaceful relationship despite the last 7 years where the Norman Kingdoms were isolationist .

We had a Peace and Trade Treaty "The Richmond Treaty" found in the treaty sections currently expired as of 1919.   We are both members of the 1913 Nassau treaty due for automatic renwel in 1923 unless either you, I, France, or the Empire of Italia gives formal notice to withdrawl from that treaty before the Summer of 1921.

I have also added you to the Committe of Nations limited access board as that was for Nassau treaty members it has been very quiet lately but we should kick it up a bit soon.

Are there specific guidelines for how the sim reports should be? I'm looking at them and there seems to be an awful lot of stuff in the CSA ones and it looks very confusing, then I look at them for other nations and they have a lot less stuff. Wondering how much detail is needed and such.

Darman

I don't know, I just copy and paste my spreadsheets into my sim reports.  It seems to be working so far.

Some people are not reporting everything they should some people over report on the grounds of well I cant hide that level of spending....

Things that should be clear...

Where the Money and BP are going unless they are in a secret project and that may or may not leak out....

Troops, locations, Wartime Readiness, Active, or Reserve.
Aircraft on what airfields.
Ships assigned to what ports and WT, Active or Reserve.

Your R&D budget...

Is the battleship Tennessee complete? Also, I am having some trouble with regards to knowing how much money and tonnage I need to dedicate to the ships are under construction, and when I was going through the naval list I found some discrepancies between what was listed in the costs list and what was listed in the naval lists, such as ship classes being named after the 2nd ship, ship classes being broken up into two separate classes despite their being no differences, and even ships that don't exist (the SM-1 class, which I assume was a type for the MS-1 class, although the tonnage for the SM-1 was given as 250 tons while the MS-1 class is 200 tons).

I was also wondering about where the CSA Army Air Corps status would be, since I see upkeep for aircraft but no listing of what aircraft the CSA has in the last report. I am also wondering what the army status letters stand for, I am pretty sure that A is for active, S is for storage, and R is for reserve, but I have no idea what the M stands for. Also, if I want to upgrade my army forces to the latest technology technology level, what is the procedure with regards to cost and such for doing so? I don't want to make more units right now, just give them the latest technology.

Darman

I can help with the army rules since upgrading army units was one of the first things I did too.
This page is the army rules, and it has information regarding the cost of each tech level.

Much of this may be traced to being my fault...

M = "Mobilized", which is the top of the readiness ladder, above "Active"

Don't know what SM-1 was. The MS-1 class was indeed 200 tons, and I believe there are 10 of them.

As originally planned, Tennessee should have completed in 1/1919, Sonora in in 2/1919. These dates do not include shakedown time. I don't know if they were delayed at all after I moved on from the CSA.

"Ship Classes Named After the Second Ship": I'm not sure this is widespread. It is somewhat true of the Alabama/New Mexico class. It was designed as the Alabama class, but the CSA chose to lay down the last unit of the Oklahoma class (New Mexico) to the new design. So in preliminary drawings, etc., you'd likely see "Alabama class", but later on I expect many would refer to it as the "New Mexico" class.

There may be some cases where the lead ship of a class is no longer in commission, or no longer in that configuration, ie it's been converted to another role, which may lead to some confusion. That and the fact that those spreadsheets have passed through 3 different sets of hands.

"Ship classes being broken up into two separate classes despite their being no differences": I often did this when some of a class was being kept at different readiness than others of the class. Ie, some ships at Wartime or Mobilized readiness, and some ships at Active.

Aircraft: old aircraft rules didn't really encourage one to keep aircraft in any sort of units, and attrition of aircraft had to be tracked. The CSA didn't have enough aircraft to make it worth much bother when I was still running it. This is likely why they are poorly tracked. For a period, I summarized that report's aircraft acquisitions in a note in the summary of that report.

Army Upgrades: The rules say "Upgrading army units cost is the rating difference ($2 and 0.25BP per level).". Assume it takes at least one half to do it.

Is there any reason the Miami class frigates and the St. Louis 3rd class cruiser are still in service? They are far too slow for service as a light cruiser.
